Today's post includes some stories from one of the local radio stations "Thriller Thursday" segment. During the month of October, the station has people call in or email their stories of experiences with the unknown. It's actually quite interesting to listen to. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.

My grandfather and I had always been close. I could be found at his house every weekend until he passed away Dec. 2000. After he passed away I would visit the Little Rock National Cemetery where he was buried every couple of weeks. I always felt at peace when I was there. I graduated high school in 2004. On graduation day I visited his grave site and was a little upset because he would not be there to see me walk across the stage. As I was sitting there I started to smell his cologne which was Brut. Well I looked around to see if anyone else was there but there was no one else around as far as I could see. The smell was getting stronger until it smelled like he was right there next to me. I then heard the word proud whispered in my ear. I thought I was just hearing things and didn't think much of it, until I heard "I am proud of you" whispered in my ear. I then felt a pressure on my shoulder kind of like a hand squeezing. I asked "papaw is that you" thinking I was losing my mind and hearing things until he whispered "i love you jessie." He was the only person that ever called me jessie. I knew then it was him letting me know that even though he wasn't there to watch me graduate he was still proud of me. I told him that I loved him too. As soon as I said that the smell disappered and the pressure on my shoulder was gone. I still visit his grave every once in a while. On the days that there is something important going on I can smell his cologne and his hand on my shoulder. I haven't had him talk to me since but I know that he is still there with me when I need him.

I have one for you. My husband and I moved into an apartment which; was our first apartment as a married couple. During the time we lived there we experienced many strange things. The bathroom toilet would flush by it's self and the doors would open and close throughout the night. Our TV channel would change right in the middle of us watching something. (And mind you this is during the time before we had digital TV) so you literally had to get your butt up and change the channel. Lights would go off and on all the time and the worst part of all of this was we would wake up in the middle of the night with the stove burners blasting at high with loud banging sounds coming from the kitchen. Like someone hitting a pot on the counter or something. This went on for quit a long time and my husband and I were convinced we were being haunted!
Well our son who was about 1½ to 2 years old at the time, was terrified to sleep in his own room or even go in there to play. And every time we would lay him in his bed asleep, he would wake up screaming and crying running to find us crying "mommy ghost ghost daddy ghost" So we ended up having to keep his bed in our room. We didn't even understand how he would even know what a ghost was at this age! He was an only child and there were no other children around him at this point. And we never exposed him to anything containing ghost in it.
Well one day we were sitting in our front room floor my husband and me, and we were reminiscing over old family pictures. My son walks up behind us and looks over our shoulders and see's a picture of my husband's late mother. He goes into an immediate panic and is basically inconsolable pointing and crying GHOST MOMMY GHOST DADDY GHOST! Tears came to my husbands eyes as did mine and we closed the book and immediately tried to settle our son down.
That night we talked to our son for a long time, and we tried to explain to him the best way we could that in short; that he need not be afraid that, the picture was of his grandma who loved him and lived in heaven and you can't go to heaven if you're a bad person. We told him how wonderful she was and would not hurt him. We eventually after a day or two got him to look at the picture without being terrified. A week later he finally started sleeping in his room. We had never asked him about the ghost for fear it would start all over again, but about a week later he came out from playing in his room and told us that he loved his grandma. We were so shocked I can't even begin to truly explain what we were feeling. We clarified that it was my husband's mom he was speaking of and he said; "yes grandma in the picture! So we knew it wasn't my mom he was speaking of who is still with us.
My mother in-law passed away several months before my husband and I even started dating. So I myself had not ever met the women. Long story ended, the weird stuff all ended the first night my son started sleeping in his room. We are convinced it was my husband deceased mother.

My grandparents had a very wonderful marriage. The two were very close and very much in love. They would play fight with each other about things saying "This is my house." "No, this is my house." Things of that sort. In late July years ago my grandfather repaired the old fence in our backyard. My grandmother had been after him for some time to do that. I called it the last great act of the Patriarch, because by early August he passed away. It was very hard for all of us..especially my grandmother. She wasn't dealing with his death well. The two of them owned their own private Insurance agency, and one day while we were all at the office going through old files my grandmother let out a scream and began to cry and LAUGH at the same time. When we calmed her down she explained that she felt something go through her that just made her feel so wonderful, and she believed it to be my grandfather. Well, shortly after that I was at her house when I caught a glimpse of my grandfather standing at the end of the hallway wearing the exact suit he was in when we buried him. I decided that what I had seen was caused by grief and let it go. Later that winter I was on the phone with my grandmother who was still convinced that it was my grandfather that passed through her and that I had really seen him at the end of the hallway. While arguing this I heard her scream, drop the phone, and stop replying to me. Then I suddenly heard the distinct sound of her vivtar camera clicking away. Finally she returned to the phone and told me to immediately come over and go with her to Wal-Mart. I did as she asked and we immediately went to the 1 hour processing center. About an hour later we got the pictures and she immediately started to look through the photos. Afterwards she handed me the pictures and just asked "Tell me what you see." Upon looking at the photos I saw that she had taken pictures of the fence that my grandfather had put up before he died and the shadow of the tree that is in front of it. Looking closer I then saw that the shadow of the tree and the leaves formed the words "My Fence" and was underlined. We have the picutres framed and hang on the wall to this day, and I can send you copies of the picutres to see if you'd like.

My whole 31 years, my grandmother has been a very religious person. I used to kid her about being born with more religion than Jesus is. She is an open, honest, blunt person. She told me she was not always the goodie goodie I see today. She was a rather hellcat back in her day. My grandmother is 82 years old so I guess she could have had a life before being a granny (lol). Well during one summer, I believe it was in 1988, my aunt and cousin were visiting us from ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Carolina . Granny had all her granddaughters and daughters spend the night. It was like a big generational slumber party. I was teasing Granny about being a holy roller (we are close and kid all the time with her), she said that she had a story to tell me that caused her to find GOD and find him fast. Back in the day, my granny's brother Vaughn was a hooligan, as Granny put it. He was cavorting with a married woman. One day my great Grandmother told Uncle Vaughn to baby-sit my granny. He was a good 10-11 years older than she was. He threw a fit about watching his sister because he had some place he needed to go. Great Grandmother told him to take Granny with him. Uncle Vaughn made Granny walk with him down the field and across the brook to his lady friend's house. On the way, they passed this HUGE tree, directly across the street stood an old 3-story home that was vacant at the time. As they approached the tree, Uncle Vaughn and Granny both stopped dead in their tracks. A huge fireball rolled from the top of the tree, across the street, and under the old house. The house did not burst into flames, as one would think. Granny said it just rolled under the house. Uncle and Granny both looked at each other confirming the other had seen the same thing and bolted down the road. Granny swears it was a warning from a higher power telling Uncle Vaughn to leave that lady alone. Sure enough, as they approached the lady's house HER HUSBAND WAS HOME. Uncle Vaughn wanted to wait him out, BUT Granny started crying and he decided to walk her home then come back. On the way, back they had to cross the tree's path once more. Nothing happened this time. Great Grandmother was not home yet and Uncle Vaughn had to stay and watch Granny. Two hours passed and Great Grandmother came home and she was distraught. It seems that Uncle's lady friend and her hubby had a terrible fight and the husband SHOT and KILLED his betraying wife. My Granny swears to this day God was telling them what he was doing was wrong and he saved them from being there and possibly being shot. Granny said she found God that day and has not let him out of her grips.
So that's all I was able to post as their myspace page starting acting wierd. Maybe the the ghosts and goblins didn't want me to share anymore stories. If you're interested and want to read more here's the link (http://alice1077.com/goout.asp?u=http://www.myspace.com/mcpoolboydjhb) to their myspace page, just click on the Thriller Thursday links in the blog section.
Last week they had some guest on from ARPast which stands Arkansas Paranormal something or another. At the top of the post is a pic from one of the hospitals they investigated that has since closed down. I really don't know what to think of it other than it just looks really wierd but it's interesting nonetheless.
