By Jove, I think I've got it!!!
I think I FINALLY figured out why Sheree' (aka 'Who 'gone check me boo?!') on Real Housewives of ATL makes my stomach lurch.
She looks and acts like a younger, more melanin rich version of my boss! Her face, mannerisms, the whole package well minus the face wart but still..............
BLECH!

Horoscopes
Virgo: No more trips down Memory Lane; you need to focus on the present. Sure, some of your yesterdays truly rocked, but so does today. The fun you have with Aries or Taurus is once in a lifetime.
I don't read my horoscope often and when I do it occassionally rings true to things that are going on in my life. The one you see above hit me like a ton of bricks when I read over it at 6 o'clock Sunday morning.
*Sidenote: I fell asleep (on the loveseat) watching some whack ass rental Z and I picked Saturday night and woke up at five Sunday morning in the same spot. lol
Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about the past for a few weeks...old experiences (good and bad), friends, boyfriends, things that could have happened, or maybe even stuff that should have happened that I didn't allow. Simply put, I've had a bad case of the "whatifItis" and it's done nothing other than to focus my thoughts on things that really aren't important anymore. Sure, it's always great to reminisce but now it's time for me to jump back on the saddle and focus on today and the wonderful life I do have.

Just Thinking.....
So the tragedy of the bridge collapse in Minnesota has got me thinking....what if? Throughout my life their are four bridges that I have crossed countless times which have always been a constant in my life. The Memphis-Arkansas Memorial Bridge (the old Bridge), the Hernando De Soto Bridge (the new bridge;both of these cross over the Mississippi River connecting AR to TN), the I-430 bridge (in Little Rock), and the I-30 bridge (also in Little Rock; both of these cross over the Arkansas River).
Growing up I would often go visit both of my grandmothers and other relatives in Memphis. As a child, I would always know which grandmothers house we were going to first by the bridge that my mom took. New bridge=Grandmama Virgie (my mom's mother) and the old bridge=Grandmama Ella(my dad's mother). I always hated going over the old bridge, not because I didn't want to see my grandmother but because I didn't trust that one. Through my eyes as a child, it always just seemed old, rusty, and unsafe. I think part of that stemmed from hearing it being referred to as the old bridge. I would always beg my mom to take the new one and drive the long way around to Grandmama E's house. She would just tell me to be quiet. lol The new bridge just seemed better and more trustworthy than the old one.
I'm older now and realize that there is really not much difference between the two other than the physical appearance. The old bridge has been around since 1949 with a 112 clearance below to the river. The new bridge has been around since 1973 with a 109 clearance below. Yeah there is about a quarter of a century difference between when the two were built but in my mind now they are both just old. Take a look.
Here's the new bridge. Look at all that damn water below. That thing you see floating by in the water is one of several barges that passes through Memphis on a daily basis.

Here's the old bridge

I couldn't find any pics of the bridges in Little Rock I normally cross but here's one of the Little Rock skyline that shows a smaller bridge that connects Little Rock to North Little Rock.

With all of what has happened, the first thought through my mind was that it could happen to me. Scary thought. I can't swim and don't deal well plummeting at fast rates of speed, especially at a time that would involve falling to my untimely demise. Is this going to stop me from using them? Nope, not at all, however I will continue to go across them at high rate of speed.
My wish for the families directly affected and the city of Minneapolis/St.Paul is healing. Time will truly be their best friend during this difficult situation.

COMA
So I was up late last night watching a documentary called "Coma" http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/coma/index.html. It follows four coma victims who had awakened from their comatose state and their families as they dealt with their life changing circumstance. There was Quan, a 26 year old black male who had been in a car accident 8 wks prior. Roxy, a 19 year white female who had also been in a car accident about the same amount of time before. Tom, a 32 year white male fell and hit his head. I forget what he hit his head on. Rounding out the four was Shawn, a white male in his late teens/early twenties who had gone to study abroad in Europe who was assaulted and thrown over a bridge.
Each families story was heartwrenching and honestly painful (for me) to watch. I cried a lot and already knew that my eyes would be bloodshot red this morning after waking up. One thing that really got to me was when Shawn's brother and mother came to visit him. His brother was talking and telling him what had been going on in his life. All of a sudden Shawn started having somewhat strange behavior. His face was a little red, he was blinking his eyes heavily while rocking back and forth a bit. His mother thought that he had something in his eye. She gently removed his glasses, covered his eyes with her hands and tells him to relax. As she removes her hand and sits down, you see the camera pan a little closer to his face and see that one tear roll down from his eye. That's when you knew that Shawn was there and really experienced his sadness and his pain. I felt it through the screen and I cried with and for Shawn because even though I can only imagine what it is like daily for him.....I just really don't know.
Watching this documentary made me think a lot more about life and my existence in this world. This could have just as easily been me or could be. I hate to come across so morbid but it is what it is. Having that thought also made me wonder what I would want in that situation. I have always told my loved ones that if placed in that predicament with me (especially at the stage where these people were at) to please let me go. Watching the "doc" only confirmed the mindset that I have. IMO, it pretty much guarantees no quality of life for me or them. I would rather they let me go so they could heal and remember me during my good days instead of having a constant reminder of what I had become.
I don't know.....it's a hard life lesson to learn. I know there's a lot more to this issue than meets the eye. This is just my two cents and how I feel.
