IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

One more year older and I still feel like a 19 year old......YEAH RIGHT!!

On the eve and day of my birthday, I've had the connection problems for hell. After purchasing a new modem (after being told that our modem had an error) we've since found out (after spending countless minutes on the phone with our ISP and router manufacturer) the problem was the router. Everything seems to be working well now so keep your fingers crossed it stays that way. We will be making a stop at the local Best Buy to return the modem and spend that money on something else....ie me!!!!! YAY!!!

Since my plans for this evening were so rudely changed on me (see previous post) I'm off to find something to get into this afternoon and evening.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!!

P.S. McCain is STOOPID!!!

Thanks For Nothing!

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your upcoming event. Eddie Griffin, scheduled at Robinson Music Hall on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at 8:00PM, has been cancelled. Your credit card will automatically be credited the ticket price and convenience charges, and should post to your account within 7 to 10 business days. Please note, the $3.40 per order processing fee and any ticketFast or UPS delivery charges are non-refundable. >>>>This is reason why I always have them mail my stuff by USPS. I still want the $3.40 back though.

*off to what else I Saturday night*

Gawt Dayum the Democrats!!!

And the phluckery of it all continues.....

Please meet Harriet Christian, yet another AVID HRC supporter that felt is was also her duty to make a complete and utter jackass out of herself (in front of the cameras of course) in the name of all things Clinton. The thing about all of these crazy folks poppin up out of the woodworks is that I totally get that they supported and wanted HRC as the Dem. nominee. I can respect that BUT that part of the process is over. She's not even a contender anymore so why all the uneccessary fuss and tears?! This mess is just ridiculous but yet comical at the same time.

Just for shits and giggles, here's another vid of Ms. Christian defending her actions. Oh yeah, and also explaining why she will not be voting for Barack. *sigh*

That was Presidential??!!

This is video of Ann Price Mills ( a delegate) who was interviewed on CNN after HRC gave her convention speech last night. She is, as you will see, an AVID HRC supporter and even though she didn't flat out say it she feels like her homegirl was robbed of the nomination. Ummm, yeah whatever.....get over it. This lady annoyed me on so many damn levels from her butterfly hair clips to the words coming out of her mouth. How can you be a TRUE democrat yet be faced with such a hard decision as to vote or not to vote??!!! Ho saddown!

This comment someone left on the message boards summed it all up for me:

Hillary's supporters remain upset because they lost to a rookie. She wasn't that great of a politician after all. She had the greatest asset any candidate could want: a spouse-President! Forget about the alleged sexism she received. The national media was pro-Hillary from day 1. She played every GOP trick she could think of & worst of all invoked the tragedy of RFK to justify staying in the race & lied about sniper fire in Bosnia. She's pathetic for that alone. Shame on her "historic" campaign.

Have you ever......

....... had a convo with one of your friends where you seriously just wanted them to STFU??!! This happened recently to me while speaking with a friend of mine on the way home from work. We had to cut our convo short as she was at the eye doctor and was just called back to the examining room. Not ten minutes later she calls me back:

Friend: You will NOT believe what just happened to me

Me: Nope...what?

Friend: Okay, so I had just gotten called back for the doctor to see me. She comes in the room to tell me that she will be right with me but she needs to take a call from her vet. She comes back in the room and just before she starts to examine my eye, she breaks down crying.

Me: Her pet must have been really sick or died.

Friend:How did you know?

Me: Weeeeeellllll, it was kinda obvious. Which one was it?

Friend: Girl, her dog died and then this bitch canceled my appointment.

Me: Yeeeeaaaah, that's hard to deal with so I could see why she would.

Friend: Puuulease! We're talking about a damn animal not a human being here!!!

Me: *hears record scratch in my head* Ummmm, what?

Friend: She should have just taken a few minutes to get herself together and come back in to do her job.

Me: Yeah, so you know you called the wrong one to vent to right?

Friend: What?

Me: *I repeat what I just said above* I hear what you're saying but a lot of people, such as myself and Z, think of their pets as family so when you have that loss it's hard.......extremely hard. I've lost a pet before, as you know, and that shit hit me like a ton of bricks. Unless you've had that experience it's hard to relate. I don't expect you to understand though.

Friend: I mean I understand the woman is sad but damn...I had to drive all the way from (insert small town AR about 20 minutes away from LR) to get there and now I have to drive back next with.

Me: I can sympathize with that BUT would you rather her have tried to examine you with tears and snot fallin down her face and doing a poor job at it? Me personally, I would have preferred that she rescheduled so that she could do her job with a fresh mind.

Friend: I guess. I may not even go back now...I'm pissed

Me: Bless your heart.

I was not upset about her feelings about the situation, I just really wanted her to shut up talking to me. I know she was upset and needed someone to vent to but I mean seriously.....*sigh*

Yeah I know...I have issues.

Ehhhhhh......

.......nothing much to say, just hanging out on a Saturday evening. We were finally going to see "The Dark Knight" (shutty FreakD! lol) but when we looked up the times online, we found that we are too late as the only showing (at the local theater) started @ 7:30.....it is now 8:16. Neither one of us felt like driving to LR, me especially since I commute there everyday. Oh well....there's always tomorrow or next weekend. :)

I am craving an Oreo cookie blast from Sonic right now and nothing else. No meat, no potatoes, no veggies just cream, milk, and sugar! I had turkey bacon, toast, and milk w/Nesquick mixed in (strange combo I know) around 1 or 2 this afternoon and nothing for breakfast so you'd think I'd be A LOT hungrier. My appetite on the weekend can be extremely akward as opposed to during the week. I can eat once or twice during the day and be fine but at during the work week I'm always starvin like Marvin.....go figure!

The movie "Enchanted" has started showing on cable. Can I just say that I really really really REALLY like that movie. There's this song that is sung I would guess about halfway through called "How Do You Know" (I think that's the title) and I think that's half of the reason why I like the move. I'm a little ashamed to admit that I have watched it 3 times today just to hear the song. Sue me! lol

I've suggested a game of Monopoly this evening but the man of the house's mind is focused only on dinner. Him hongray! What's that you say dear? You're not cookin?? Guess what....me either! Your debit card is on the table you say? Great! Sonic here I come!!

Hey You…......

Yeah you crazy lady driving the SUV. The next time someone tells your that’s okay just go with it….mkay? Thanks.

I took the pooches walking yesterday and the particular route I chose to go caused me to have to cross a busy street. I was in no hurry and was demonstrating such by occasionally glancing up to check traffic and looking down at my fingernails when all of a sudden I hear a horn honk. I glance up thinking it was just a disgruntled driver when I see this lady had stopped to apparently let us cross the street. Now this street is a two lane with a turning lane in between to get to the street I wanted to cross to. I look the opposite way like mama ‘nem taught me and see cars coming. I turn back to her smile and mouth “That’s okay” and wave for her to just keep on going. I can be bold but I wasn’t about to risk life, limb, and my babies’ paws just because she said it was okay to cross! What happened next not only shocked me but forced me to go hood in the ‘burbs. This woman, instead of just keeping on like normal folk, then decides that I am not appreciative enough of her random act of kindness and proceeds to pull up to my bumper, roll down her window, and tell me so.

“Kind” Crazy Lady: Hey, I was just trying to let you cross the street!
Me: Yeah, I see that. I also see traffic is coming from the opposite side of the road and didn't feel it was safe.
KCL: So why didn’t you go?
Me: *thinking is the bitch serious?* Are you seriously holding up traffic for this? Didn’t you just hear what the hell I said?
KCL: You could have been gone.
Me: You also could have had your dumb ass at the house a long time ago but instead you chose to ignore my signal for you to get the hell on. Now you’ve held up traffic and pissed off me, my dogs, and the folks behind you. Go home stupid ass!!

**Emma was growling by then again she growls at anything that she doesn’t know so that’s not unusual. Lol

She drove off after that but I was just left there standing dumbfounded by that idiot. I almost turned around and went home but I wasn’t about to let her ruin our walk. I did however find a nice size rock on the ground to chunk at her just in case she came back for round two. I swear I have seen/heard/experienced some crazy stuff in my life but this one ranks right up there near the top of the list. What’s even crazier is that she is a part of the staff or teaches @ my alma mater which is just right up the street. I saw her hangtag through the windshield and just shook my head. Just to think, she could possibly be teaching folks something……that’s a scary thought.

Ummmmmmmmmmm..............

......just press play 'cause I ain't got shit else to say

Pole Position

I saw THE craziest thing driving home from work yesterday. I was in the left lane on the interstate behind a big dodge ram. The truck passed me earlier but ya'll know how crazy rush hour traffic can be. Well anyway, I ended up behind the truck again. The person behind the wheel was driving all foolish and almost swerved off the road. You know how people kinda move to the left to see what's holding up traffic? Yeah that's what they were doing. Anyhoo, I soon found out that the reason they were shucking and jiving was because they were trying to catch up with another truck, a dodge ram no less. So anyway, I'm move over to the right lane because I got tired of folks slammin on their breaks and whatnot and still end up behind the original truck. Well, all of the sudden they increase their speed to catch up with the other truck and then these fools go in towards the lines on the road and the driver of the original truck starts passing stuff out of his window to the passenger in the other truck. My mouth was open and my head looked like this

I just kept saying to myself...OMG OMG O.M.G!! lol Of course this caused people to slam on their brakes because noone wanted to be close to either one of them driving all slaphappy and whatnot. I just want to know what kind of hurry that they were in that they couldn't have just (1) pulled over to the side of the road or (2) gotten off on the next exit which was all of ummmmmmmm 30 seconds away to make their exchange. Makes you wonder what they do in lieu of pottybreaks on roadtrips. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. *shudders* Anyway, I was just glad to make it home in one piece and be off the road with the fast and the furious wannabe's.
What's the craziest driving technique you've ever witnessed?

AR PSA......

It is neither right nor will it ever be okay to see a grown man walking around in public with these on (especially with WHITE SOCKS!!!!)))

or these

UPDATE: I added this as I'm sure to get a lot of questions as to what these thingamajigs are. These are Five-finger shoes which apparently help to enhance your natural walking motion. *shrugs shoulders* Find out more about them here: http://www.fitsugar.com/166456

This PSA was brought to you by my shopping experience at the local Wal-Mart this weekend.

That is all. Carry on.

You will be missed........

.....in this household as well as many others across the world.

I've loved Bernie Mac since his days with Def Comedy Jam, to "The Kings of Comedy", to "The Bernie Mac Show" and everything in between. You were truly gifted and made me laugh even if I was sad or mad at the world. I wish you peace in the after life and peace and comfort for your family during this time.

Well done Uncle Bernie....well done. :)

I had to come back and add this vid because this is some of the funniest ish I've ever heard in my life and it's one of my favorite parts of "The Kings of Comedy".

Thank God It’s Friday!!

I’m sitting at work right now and the power is out so what better time to post! I’m on my laptop and the battery is really low so I hope that I am able to get this put up before it dies out on me.

Work has been kickin my butt like a slave with calluses on their feet. One of my pet peeves about places of employment are companies that thrive on having unnecessary meetings. I mean really, how do you expect for folks to complete assigned tasks from one meeting if you are having to rush off to another right after the one you just left? Oh vey!! And since when is needle pointing in a meeting kosher??!! Yes, one of the folks, a regional director no less, was sitting in there chillin’ getting her multi-task on! Lol At first I thought she was about to floss her teeth because all I saw was a string hanging from her mouth. The closer I looked; I realized she was threading the needle. It sounds crazy but that is the type of environment I work in. They encourage stuff like that because they know people get bored having to sit for hours at a time discussing strategies (ie the same ish over and over). It’s probably just me and I just need to loosen up but dammit if that’s still not awkward as hell! lol

Anyway, enough of that! I ventured off to M-town last weekend to kick it with my mom and 3 and 4 year old nephews. I do believe I have filled my quota of Disney channel, cartoon network, and piggy back rides for the rest of this year. Needless to say those tiny tots wore me out. I swear if anything ever comes through this birth canal of mine, I truly hope it’s a girl ‘cause boys are ROUGH!!! One was kung foo fighting, the other was tryin to wrestle, both were whining and fallin out on the floor when they didn’t get their way (da hell???). Auntie had enough and called for both of them to go sat their asses down somewhere. I’m not used to all that commotion and noise. Auntie likes peace, quiet, and serenity and I was just WAY outside of my comfort level. What better way to cure that than a nap! One for me, and two for them! YAY!!! After they woke it up, it seemed to rid them of the evil that was lurkin within and they both regained some sense and sensibility. Sunday was a risne and repeat of Saturday but different. We got to go to Chucky Cheese to celebrate my 3 year old nephews birthday (he turned 3 on the 4th). WHOOPEEEEE!!! It actually wasn’t that bad. I’m guessing it’s because it was on a Sunday *shrugs shoulders* Anyway, we had fun, the kids had a lot of fun and my other nephew and niece showed up. I’ll have to post the vid when I get home of them dancing in front of the CC camera. Hilarious! Lol

Anyway, lemme shut this sucker down because the battery is on it’s last leg.

Have a good weekend!

Run for it!

I wasn't going to post today but I saw this video this morning and I could.not.stop.laughing. It's footage of the earthquake that happened in CA yesterday while the Judge Judy show was taping. Now, of course, I'm not that insensitive to laugh @ the actual event. What got me is the plantiff in this video would.not.budge from the table. Not because she was scared but she seriously thought they were going to continue with her case. Ya'll....I hollered. I tried to contain myself but......just watch. You'll see what I'm talking about. lol

I will also admit that I got tickled watching everyone, except the plantiff, run out of the courtroom. Not because they were running for their lives but for the fact that all it took was one person and everyone else was out! Lol Watching it made me think back to something similar that happened to me.

Back when I was a young buck I was in Nashville visiting my best friend. We had all gone out to this club and hadn't even made it in when a fight broke out in the parking lot. So we backed on outta the way so we wouldn't get caught up in the crowd of people watching/participating/whatever. As everything settled down we started making our way back to the door when this girl screamed. It was as if some cattle had suddenly been herded because folks just broke out runnin. Well I look @ my bf and the other folks we were there with and we break out runnin too. A few moments after we started running, my other homegirl just stops, busted out laughing and asked "What is we runnin fo'?" After she caught up (cause I was still runnin), I answered her question. I ain't know but I d@mn sure wasn't about to stand around and find out. Hell those folks were NOT running all willy nilly for nothing. lol Turns out, one of the guys that had been fighting earlier had said he was going to get his gun. That was reason enough for us to take our tails back to her apartment and call it a night.

What do you want now????

I don't blog about the j-o-b too much on here because most jobs are pretty much the same story with the same characters just with different faces and diff't challenges (read bullshit). My current gig is pretty sweet for the most part. The work is relatively easy (it just involves a lot of reading and writing), everyone is pretty cool, and the dress code is extremely lax. You can wear pretty much anything you want on any given day...jeans, shorts (no coochie cutters of course), flip flops, I've even seen some folks with spaghetti strap attire. Now that's a bit much IMO regardless of what they say you can wear but I digress. I guess I just haven't loosened up enough from a strict corporate dress code to get with that program (and probably never will).

The environment is pretty laid back and everyone seems to get along for the most part although I have been able to detect some of the "cliques" and strong dislikes some people have for others. Speakin of which, I've been invited to join the "cool kids" lunch club. In an effort to combat high gas prices and average pay a group of folks decided to form a lunch club that meets a few times a week. They decide on a theme (mexican, italian, etc) and each person brings something to contribute. I was first asked verbally and then sent an email invite. I guess this means I'm "in" now. lol I normally bring my lunch everyday but I may go against my anti-social grain and stop by a few times here and there before the year is up. lol

Anyway, I'm gettin off track because that's not even what my post is about. lol Soooo, within the fancy building you can find almost any nationality of people. It's truly like the UN. Our admin happens to be from the motherland. She's sweet as pie and I really do like her but can I just put something out into the universe real fast?? She.gets.on.my.damn.nerves.sometimes!!!! I know you're like AR Gal, what doesn't??!!

Lemme explain. My employer emphasizes that face-to-face interaction is the preferred form of communication. Me, I'd prefer to just receive an email or talk on the phone and be done with it (please see anti-social reference above). The AA....not so much. She truly takes the ish literally and I suppose I shouldn't knock her for that but still....................*sigh* Anyway, today she came down to my desk no fewer than 10 times (seriously I'm not exaggerating). About the 4th time, I had this look on my face that screamed WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW?? UGH!!! I'm not the one to tell people how to do their job but ya'll just don't know how bad I wanted to tell her "really, it's okay if you just pick up the phone and call". lol Honestly, I think the reason why she does it is because english is not her 1st language so her accent is really thick and she may think it's easier to understand her in person -vs- on the phone. To me she sounds the same either way. *shrugs shoulders* I think the annoyance was the fact that the things she wanted were simple things liikkkke I need the key # to your lock on your desk for such and such, do you still have that file on your desk (if she had called she would have found out I didn't and could have saved herself an unecessary trip to my desk), do you have any agenda items for our meeting next week.......the list goes on.

Oh well, there's not much I can do to change it now. I just needed to vent I suppose. I'm going to go to work tomorrow with a better attitude and try to keep it that way.....unless she comes down to my desk again. lol

UPDATE: It is not even 9 am and she has been down to my desk twice already.......

Me and you must neva part............

......ma ki bouncy ball.

Not to be outdone, Emma must get her two minutes of shame....I mean fame too.

Simply put, this dog is a freak of nature. Other than food and the 'rents, fetching is her reason for living. Ever since she grasped the concept, it's been non-stop ever since. Climbing a mountain, walking in hot temp's, getting her shots, sometimes not even dinnertime will make her stop. Nothing but death will keep her from it! Now I don't want folks to get the wrong impression. I love playing fetch with her (because truly it's funny to watch) but when I do certain things of a personal nature, I need her to understand that we need to take a time out.

Sadly we must ignore our precious baby girl sometimes in order for her to get the point that it's not all about her. I too had to learn this lesson and it was a hard pill to swallow. I do believe that it will take her a lot more pills (or a slightly bigger one) as she has quite the big head. It hurts my heart but it must be done.

That's just Nasty................

Dogs eat grass.....

Said grass sometimes makes dogs vomit.......

Vomit is not meant to stay in the body..........

Throwing up is not fun.............

Believe me, I know.............

Seeing a 90 lb. dog do it in front of your face is even less fun............

90 lb. dog usually gives a signal..........

When we see that we rush him outside................

No signal this go 'round....................

Vomit+ carpet= some really fucked up shit...................

Why didn't he move to the tile..................

He's done that before too...................

He's a smart dog........................

Carpet=not good.....................

Tile=still not good but better than carpet..................

Thank goodness for home steam cleaners.................

Thank goodness I happen to really love this damn dog.......................

OMG!

I decided to check my blog history to see how long I had been back in the blogging game. I figured it had been really close to a year since I started back. If you'll recall, I technically started blogging about 3 years ago but due to unforeseen circumstances (read laziness) I stopped. Well, I jumped back on the wagon last summer and was surprised to see that I've been going at it(somewhat consistently) for over a year now since 6/28/07. GO ME!

I honestly didn't think I would last this long and thought I would have a lot more depth to my writing but alas......I don't. lol I'm cool with that though. Blogging for me is really something to do in my spare time. I'm not out to change the world one keystroke at a time, my blog doesn't have a theme, and I've found that I thoroughly enjoy reading other blogs more than I like conveying thoughts in my own. Again...I'm cool with that. There's a lot of things that happen in the day of life of AR Gal that never make their way to the screen you see in front of your eyes and most likely never will. Partly because I don't want to share (sowwy, some things need not be on the internets (yes I spelled it like that)) and also because I just don't have the time or desire to type it out.

With that being said (because this post seems to be taking a rather depressing turn), I think I'm gonna stick around for awhile. I promised myself that I would try and stay with this for a good year before deciding if I wanted to hang up my "Gone Fishing for Good" sign. For the most part, I like my blog and I definitely have taken a strong liking to the folks that swing by and comment. For me, that's reason enough to keep on keepin on.

AR Gal PSA.....

I absolutely positively, without a shadow of a doubt, cannot stand summer heat!

That is all, carry on.

How 'Bout a Round of Applause?

I wasn't even going to mention this but for some reason I can't stop thinking about this experience I had. lol
I went to Zaxby's last Friday to pick up some viddles for me and my mane. Now Z is a very picky eater and sometimes wants his food a certain way. Cool, no problem (unless he picks the wrong day to test me, lol). The particular sandwich he likes he prefers to have the food components separate so he can just put it together himself because he claims the sauce on it makes the toast soggy. I pull up to the order box thingy and told the girl taking orders want I wanted. I even made sure to use their terminology of "building it yourself" because that was how it was given to me by a Zaxby's employee. She tells me to hold on for a moment then comes back to inform me that they do not do that. Hmmmmm.......

Me: Ummmm, okay. Well the last few times I visited it was not a problem
Girl: Well, they said they weren't doing it that way today
Yes I typed, to-damn-day.....*sigh*

Me: Today? And who the fu.....who is they?
Girl: The cooks in the back
Me: Well, are they doing it tomorrow?
Girl: Ummmmmmmm......

At this point I ctfu.

Me: Da hell do they....nevermind..can you hold on a minute?

I call Z. I'm holding up the line because I didn't give two shits about Zaxby's or anyone else behind me right then. I tell him that he is more than welcome to get something else from this joint (just let me know what he wants) but my black ass would rather starve.

Z: Did you ask to speak to a manager?
Me: Hell no, 'cause I ain't coming back so it does.not.matter.
Z: I can't believe that ish, she actually said today.
Me: Yup

*we both laugh*

Then I hear the girl on the intercom asking to see if I was still there. I just told her I changed my mind and thanks but no thanks and drove off. I mean call me stupid but how dumb is it that you would rather put the sandwich together -vs- the consumer requesting that you just put components in the container for them to do it and save you a little extra work.
*sigh*

You put on quite a show, you really had me going
But now it's time to go, curtains finally closing
That was QUITE a show, VERY entertaining
But it's over now
Go on and take a bow.

I's Tieahd...........

This week has been kicking my ass something serious! I'm in a training class this week to learn about some new software that we are converting to. The people in this class have to teach the rest of the folks in the company. Lawd, what have I gotten myself into. lol Since we are in there all day, I have no time to get my work done (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) and by the time I get home, I'm worn out. I skipped out on walking or doing Tae-Bo today....I'm spent! As soon as I'm done, if I get done, typing up this post, I'm getting ready for bed. I made my salad and told Z he was on his own tonight. Training for everyone else begins next week and I will have to be the secondary trainer in some sessions but the session I have to lead is not until next month (thank gawd!) so I still have a little time to get better prepared. :-)

I opted to do 3 posts instead of one. I had all the stuff I talked about in one but it would have been way too hard on the eyes. Knock yourselves out....I'm going to bed.

Party Favors..........

So everything went well with the shower Saturday but the start of my day did not. I woke up early that morning to finish washing clothes (I had started the night before). I went to take the load out that had dried the night before and the clothes were still wet. I remember turning the thing on and hearing it roll around. Hmmmmmmmmm I restart the machine and I hear the power going through it but the drum wouldn't roll. Great, just phluckin great. *insert scream here*

**Sidenote: Have ya'll ever seen that show "Snapped" on Oxygen? Ummm, yeah I was THISCLOSE right then....THISCLOSE. First the air in the car, now this??!!

After throwing a tantrum (ie banging my head against the wall), I calm myself down and finish washing the clothes to take to the laundromat to dry. While there, I decided to just stop worrying about it, called Z to let him know so he could look at it when he got home from work and decided to focus my energy on the shower.

Sidenote: I'm happy to report the problem was nothing more than the belt needing to be replaced and we now have a fully functioning dryer again.

I met my friend to follow her to her FIL's house so I could park my car and ride with her. She was on time meeting me but behind in getting her stuff done. I thought we were heading straight over to the house to setup but it turns out we had to stop and get the cake and a couple of other things....no biggie. She drops me off @ Party City to pick up a laddle and she rides down to Kroger to pick up the cake. It takes me all of 1 minute to find what I need and pay for it so I just walked down the sidewalk (after almost busting my butt thank you very much) to the grocery store to find her. Once we walk around getting other last minute items, we head to the bakery. Now let me preface this by saying that she said that several people had recommended the bakery to her and told her how great the cakes were. The woman pulls the cake off the rack and it looks a HOT ASS MESS! lol lol lol The first thing I notice is that one of the corners is missing icing. I mean, all you see is brown! lol My friend by this time is just real quiet. After 13 years, I know that means she's pissed. She looks at me and rolls her eyes and I just put my head down 'cause I already know she's about to say something crazy. She asks for the baker and she comes up to the front.

Friend: We've got a problem
Bakerlady: Excuse me?
Friend: This is not what I ordered. The cake is pink, I asked for peach. The trim is messy, hell it ain't even in a straight line and this corner doesn't even have icing on it.
BL: Well ma'am, the cake is peach, I can show you the color palettes we work from and how pink and peach look. I did the cake like you asked.
Friend: Well, let's say the cake is peach, which it's not, what about the trim and missing icing? I mean did you think it was finished?
*me trying to ctfu*
BL: I apologize for that
Friend: Let me......let me just.....I'll be back

So we walk off to go get some oranges for a flower arrangement she was making.

Friend: Does that cake look peach to you? I'm just trying to make sure it's not me
Me: Hell no. That's pink if I ever saw it. Now that, nodding my head in the direction of this woman I saw, is peach. Her shirt is peach. lol
Friend: lol
Me: Go ask her to go stand next to that cake so you can show that woman what peach looks like. lol
Friend: Girl what am I gonna do? I am too embarrassed to show up with that shit.
Me: Weeeellll, you need a cake but I wouldn't pay for that ish nor would I want it.
Friend: Me either

So we go back to the bakery and she proceeds to tell the folks that she doesn't want it.

Me: Ummm, so no cake?
Friend: Oh I'm getting a cake. I'm going to stop by Sam's and pick one up
Me: Can they have one ready that quick?
Friend: Yeah, if I just get a pre-made one. Hell anything beats that shit in there.
Me: You got a point

So off to Sam's we went and 20 minutes later out she comes (I waited in the car) and off to the house we went. There was a nice turnout and the bride to be rec'd some nice gifts even though several people were still rolling in after it officially ended. *rollin eyes* Now just imagine, my friend, her SIL, and myself are cleaning up packing up the food and these kneegrows are coming up in there trying to get a plate. Da hell??? I gave this one girl this look that said if you don't get the hell away from me. The funny part is we forgot all about the cake until it was over. I realized it while going back to get one of the food trays. Most people were still there so my friend made a quick "oh yeah we've got cake too" announcement and that was that. lol

Ice'y Hot

My air is fixed but not after some bumps in the road. They FINALLY figured out it was the blower motor resistor that was problem but they figured this out keeping it ALL DAY FRIDAY!! WTF??!! I was hot. I mean seriously, they had had the car since early that morning. *smdh* That's not all though. The kicker was by the time they figured it out and were able to order the part they wouldn't have enough time to do the repair because they would be closed so that car had no air in it all weekend. I was so mad I called Z and told him to drive from the house (30 miles away) to come and get me. He just told me to hold on and he'd be there as he could tell my anger level was high because my voice starts shaking and I start stuttering and ish when I am really mad. lol Sure I could have went up there and told them off but sometimes a mans presence is just better....feel me? Add to the fact that the asst. mgr . dude had been trying to holla since Thursday. I wasn't interested and my actions fully showed that....or so I thought.

He struck a nerve Friday morning. I'm sitting in the office waiting on him to do something in the garage and start getting impatient because (1) I needed to go to work and (2) I had questions I still needed to ask. After waiting about 5 minutes I go into the garage and start asking my questions and he interrupts and ask me if I'm married. Ummm WHAT??!! I had to bite my tongue because I was 'bout to call him a n*gga but I just asked him "what the fuck does that have to do with what is coming out of my mouth?" instead. That shut him up real quick. I finished my interrogation, called my ride and I was out. I figured I could show him better than I could tell him anyway so when Z showed up with me that evening, dude just looked dumb.as.hell. lol I swear you gotta show folks fat meat is greasy sometimes.

While picking up the car Monday, the manager was there (he had been out on vacay the week before. He asked me who services my vehicle. I asked him why (knowing good and well where he was going with it) and he told me he just wanted me to keep them in mind for all my servicing needs. I politely told him in no uncertain terms that it would be a cold day in hell before I ever brought my car back there again *knocks on wood* and that I could list off several reasons why. He asked, I told him (asst. mgr.'s tactics included) and I got nothing but I'm sorry's and a discount off of my service. That's cool, but I still won't be back.

Anyway, that's all said and done now. My air is fixed and thankfully we are a 2 car family and didn't have endure the cruel summer days ridin sweaty or restricted to the house.

The Verdict is in......................

In the case of "To Help or not to Help a Friend", my conscience has found that AR Gal should indeed help her friend out.

What Z said that day really stuck with me and it made sense. Someone asked me had she ever gone out of her way for me and until that question was posed I hadn't even thought about it but yes she has. I won't go into the details but it was many many years ago (hence my memory lapse) and she was truly a friend indeed for a friend in need. lol I called to confirm with her that I'll be there and all is well. She told me that about 35-40 people were invited and that most of those people had called to confirm. I hope that house it's being held in is not small 'cause it's gonna be hot in there if that's the case. lol

In other news, the phluckin air in my car has decided to malfunction in out in the middle of the got damn summer. When you turn it on it comes on but then it shuts itself off.....then it turns itself back on.....then it shuts itself off. Da hell? I took it to the shop today but of course it didn't mess up while they had it but sure enough as I pull driving out of the parking lot off it goes and in reverse I went for them to pull it back in. lol It was close to closing time for them so I have to go back tomorrow for them to keep to see what's going on. One of the guys said it's probably a short somewhere which is what Z predicted as well. I don't give a care what it is I just want it fixed.....like NOW!!! UGH!!

Meme Time!!!!

I stole this from FreakyD. I figured I haven't done a meme in awhile and I liked the questions so here it goes....

40. Are you flexible? Not really....I need to work on that.

I need a favor.........

I don't know about you but that phrase always makes me cringe. Why? 'Cause favors people ask of me always seem to be bit much IMO.

Example 1:
My eldest sister: Could you do me a favor?
Me: Depends
ES: Would you mind taking off work, flying up to STL to help me drive from STL to Atlanta? I don't think I could make it all that way having to deal with both boys.
Me: Ummmm, don't you have a husband?
ES:So I guess that means no.
Me: *silence*

Example 2:
Co-worker: Could you do me a favor?
Me: Depends
CW: Could you drive me to (insert restaurant name here)? I need to pick up the lunch ordered for boss lady and I don't how to get there.
Me: *trying not to blow my breath and roll my eyes* I'll go with you but you're driving.

Example 3:
Friend: Could you do me a favor?
Me: Depends
Friend: Would you mind helping me with a shower I'm throwing next weekend? It's for such and such I used to work with.
Me: Who?
Friend: such-n-such. I don't think you met her or maybe you did, I don't remember
Me: Hmmmmmm, where's it at?
Friend: In Sherwood
Me: Hmmmmmmmm
Friend: My sister-in-law will be there to help to but I think I may need an extra pair of hands
Me: Hmmmmmmmmm, I'll think about it and call you back.

Example 1 was cut and dry no for me because my sister was going to a family reunion of some close family friends. My mom was also going but she was flying....as my sister should have. All of us had been invited but I had chosen not to go (and had told her this on several occassions). I still cannot wrap my head around why she asked me to help her drive down there. My folks work my nerve.

The request in example 2 really wasn't so bad but it was just the fact that she asked me to drive? The hell??!! If YOU need help, then YOU are driving....case closed.

Example 3 just happened yesterday. I told her I would think about it so that's what I'm doing now. As stated, she is throwing a shower for some girl she used to work with. I don't know the girl and if I ever saw her when I used to stop into the shop to visit with my friend I don't remember her. She told me her name but ummmm yeah...it didn't ring a bell. I asked her where it is being held for a reason because I thought maybe it was going to be in the town where I live (In Conway about 30 minutes away from Little Rock). Sherwood is on the other side of North Little Rock (which is just across the river from LR)....basically a nice little drive.

My first thought is hell no. My thing is this, I wouldn't ask my friends to go out of their way like that, especially for someone they didn't know. I was talking with Z about it last night and he said that there is no right or wrong response to her request but maybe it would help if I thought about it from the aspect of even though I don't know the girl, my friend needs my help. Hmmmm, true but still. Either way I'll let her know something by tomorrow at the latest.

What do ya'll think? Am I being mean? Please be honest.....it's always better than the giving the "right answer" in my book. Thanks!! :-D

An Afternoon at the Movies: Hancock

Z and I finally got our ish together and went to see "Hancock" yesterday afternoon. True to form, we got there with only minutes to spare. We had a game plan though. We were going to go inside and use the machine, which the theater just got a few months back, to get our tickets so we wouldn't have to wait in line. That would have worked out great had the thing not been broken. Soooooo, back outside we went to wait in the now even longer line. After waiting for about 30 seconds, I said let's just get tickets to a later show or just go home because we are not going to have good seats. After waiting for about 10 minutes to get up to the front of the window because these school age children were to dumb to realize they needed two people working the window and not one *eye roll* we got tickets. Z went ahead and bought them for the 4:30 show....*even bigger eye roll* We walk in and it's packed, I turn around to give him that "I told you so look" and he is gone. lol He's outside talking to the people at the window and they just tell him we can go ahead and go to the other theater it's showing in @ 5:15.
He turns around and tells me...see babe, we get to see it in comfortable seats and for the matinee price.
Me: "You sneaky mf'er, did you plan this?"
Him:" hee hee hee".
Me: " I can't stand you, lol"
Him (after he stops laughing): "Nope, didn't plan it but you gotta admit, it worked out nicely"
Me: "I suppose....sneaky mf'er, lol"
The movie was pretty good. I'd read the reviews of the "pros" and other bloggers so I knew what to expect. As predicted, it starts off funny and ends not exactly how I would have liked. I'm pretty sure by now everyone knows the gist of the storyline....a drunk superhero who tries to revamp his image. There are not a lot of twists and turns to make your jaw drop, everything was pretty predictable (to me anyway). Case in point, when Charlize Theron's character makes her first appearance, you know that she and "Hancock" have a history of some sort. It was written all over her face. At that point it's just a matter of when this fact will actually come to light and what exactly their connection is/was. Speaking of Charlize, Z had me dyin' laughing in the theater. I was laughing so hard I had to cover my mouth because I didn't want folks laughing at me like we laughed at the man in the theater last weekend when we went to see "Wanted".
Z: "Hey isn't that what's her face?"
Me: "I don't know anyone by that name"
Z: "You know....uhhh uhhh...."
Me: "Nope, still nothing"
Z: "No Kevin..... it wasn't the wine Kevin...."
Me: *hollers"
Z: *laughing*
Me: *trying to contain myself*"Yeah, that's her"
If you are not familar with that line, it's what Charlize Theron's character tells her husband in "The Devil's Advocate" when she is trying to convince him that the ladies she was just out shopping with turned into demons. Both of us happen to love that movie and love that line from the movie even more. It's a line that we use all the time around here when we are feeling goofy (which is a lot of the time). Yes, we are wierd. lol
Annnnnnnnywaaaaaayyy, I that's about all I say about the movie. I won't say you shouldn't go see it but I won't say that you should either. I dunno, use your own judgement (like you wouldn't anyway) on this one. FYI....if you do go catch it at the theater, be sure to stay seated after the credits start rolling for a minute as there will be a brief cameo by Mike Epps.

I've Got More Ailments.....................

............than the law should allow. My potential plan of going to Memphis is all but out of the question. My back and/or my hip is feeling rather funky. Feels like it's cracked or something I swear! lol Bending over is a pain in the butt! I'm trying to think of what could have happened. I went walking yesterday but didn't jog so that's out (I guess). I didn't fall, I didn't bump into anything (yes I have to consider this as an option because I am really that clumsy) so I have no clue what's going on. Maybe I slept in a bad position....*shrugs shoulders* So as of now, I'm doped up on Excedrin with a massager/heating pad thing on my back side. I have some prescribed pain pills I could take but if I took those I would be asleep until at least 9 p.m. tonight......I'm not feelin it. If it becomes extremely unbearable I suppose I will be making a trip to the E.R. but that will be THE last resort and I'm not at that point right now. Let's face it, noone likes going to that place especially me. I've had to go there before, for myself and for others, and there is only one time I can count that I was in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

We still have yet to go see "Hancock". At the rate we are going, we may as well just wait for the dvd to come out and from what I've read, that may be a better option. We were going to an early afternoon show yesterday but by the time we had dragged our lazy behinds from a seated position, we only had 10 minutes to make it to the movie. Bump that. Z went ahead and threw some hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill for us. I made a salad, baked beans, and bought some potato salad (what!? Last time I made some it came out looking like creamed potatoes, lol), had a little watermelon for desert and that was that. We decided to forgo anything else because we usually don't eat it and end up giving the food away to his friends. I am still craving some ribs though....oh well. Maybe next time. He grills all the time so I'll be able to feast on some sooner or later.

Ironically, I'm watching Untold Stories of the E.R. on Discovery Health. If you've never seen the show, they reenact multiple stories that happened to featured doctors/nurses at hospitals in an episode. The story they are showing now is about a lady, that's kinda off in the head, that came in saying she had worms. Well, while the doctor was checking her out, he noticed that she had "tunnels" in her arms (which were so dirty and infested they were pitch black). As he was looking at one of "tunnels" in her arm, he finds out she wasn't lying. Ole' girl had worms.....as in earth worms she had lodged up her arm. Can you say ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. *vomits* As he was taking them out, the lady got upset because she had bonded with them and had actually named the durn things. lol So the doc finishes up the one arm and is taking off his jacket because he thought he was done when the lady hauls off and says she's got worms and holds up her other arm. lol All he could do was look.

Can you imagine being that far gone mentally that you would do something like that to yourself. I don't know about you but it makes me count my blessings. Sure everyone has a lil bit of crazy in them but still........that's just....ion't know. It just makes me thankful that I'm still somewhat in my right mind.

UPDATE: I thought they were done with the story of worm lady. Ends up she had some in her thighs too. Lawd! lol

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

I found this pic online and just loved it. I wish my furbabies would be patient enough to actually let me put a flag in their mouth AND let me take a pic of it. lol

Today has been pretty slow for us for the most part. I took the pooches out this morning for a good long walk and and just missed getting rained on. That happened to us last weekend and while it was somewhat invigorating it got old real quick. We were all soaking by the time we got home.............not fun. Anyway, it's supposed to rain on and off all day today. It needs to lay off for a little while because I want to at least get my mouth on a bbq hotdog. lol

I decided to go ahead and take off Monday just in case I go to Memphis tomorrow to see the fam. I'll be honest, I don't really feel like doing shit, especially driving a semi-long distance, but my niece, who I haven't seen since the end of March, is there. She is usually at her dad's during the summer but she is headed to high school in the fall and is in band so she has to go to band practice and all that jazz. They take band REALLY serious there. My two youngest nephews (their Mom, ie my sister) are there and I haven't seen them in what seems like forever. Guilt will probably reign supreme and we'll be driving our happy asses up I-40 tomorrow. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm off to wash my hair so that it will look cute when we go to the movies this afternoon to see "Hancock". The plan was to go last night but true to form at the end of the work week, I was tired as hell. I don't know why but this happens almost every Friday (well Thursday this time). It's like that's my designated night to sleep away the troubles of the world.....so stranjay.

Anyway, have a happy and safe fourth. FYI....be on the lookout for crazy people. To show you exactly what I mean, check out Pajnstl's post about her version of "The Fiddler on the Roof". lol http://pajnstl.blogspot.com/2008/07/police-just-left-my-house.html

Stuff that Makes Me Laugh.......

After wasting precious brain cells blogging about HWSNBN (see below), I found something that made me laugh. Thanks to FreakyD, I went and dug this up.....it never fails to make me fall out laughing.

Kick Rocks!

Ya'lls president was in Little Rock today. I say ya'll 'cause I don't like claim him.....never have, never will. My president is Al Gore. I chant everyday in hopes that American's (or at least the majority) will someday wakeup and come to the realization that the man who has taken up space in the White House for almost the last decade is not the Commander in Chief (unless you count the crack rocks he used to smoke (and probably still does) back in the day).

Anyhoo, he was here on official business to discuss the nations housing crisis and the effect it's had on Arkansans. Here's a clue.....petro biyatch! Perhaps if you actually made a half ass effort to bring some REAL phluckin relief to your constituents, people could afford to pay the mortgage and not have to hang in the chow line.
UGH! I can't stand his ass.....just die already...JUST DIE!!!

Afternoon at the Movies: "Wanted"

I'm gonna cut to the chase and tell you that I loved, Loved, LOVED this freakin movie!!! I'm ready for it to come out on DVD or even get a bootleg copy just so I can watch it again. This film WILL keep your attention from beginning to end without any problems. It's humorous and action packed....you can't beat that with a wooden stick. One thing I will say is that there are a lot of scenarios that, in real life, seem a little far fetched but honestly those things are what make this movie so great. I won't give any of the plot away this time (surprising I know) but I will forewarn you and say that if you do not care for a lot of bullets going through people's heads and a lot of blood, then this is not the movie for you. What I do know is I wanted to be Angelina Jolie's character in this movie in THE worst way.....she's a bad bitch, period.dot. lol

One funny thing I have to mention is this guy that was sitting in the theater. He was SO funny and didn't even know it. This dude would just crack up laughing at the most random parts of the movie and what made it even worse is that he was loud as hell! lol The first time he did it, Z and I just looked at each other and tried to hold it in because we had the same question going through our heads.....what in the hell was he laughing at? I mean seriously, dude would laugh at the craziest lines like, "I'm gonna kill you"....bwahahahahahahaha. "Curve the bullet"....bwahahahahahaha. "Hello"......bwahahahahahahaha. This couple sitting behind us would also start laughing at the man because well, I guess you just had to be there but it made for an interesting experience.

Anyway, I'll reiterate that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. "The Hulk" was good but this was MUCH better IMO. And the theatric bullshit that is "The Happening" can't even hold a candle to it.

AR Gal rates this movie: Get up off yo seat!!

Hey There, Hi There, Ho There……..

……blame the title on The Steve Harvey Show. I was watching bits and pieces of it this morning. I just love Lydia Lyza Gutman, she cracks me up. Lol

To answer some questions from the previous post:

Freaky, no I didn’t go bowling. I was sore as hell by early evening so that maybe became a definite no. Maybe I’ll give it a try this weekend.

LadyNay, I eventually went to sleep that night. I dunno what was up with me that day. I was just wired up I guess. J

The weeks having been passing by rather quickly wouldn’t you say? I’m glad because the 4th of July weekend can’t get here soon enough. I’ve been debating about whether or not to take the Monday off following. Most people are like why wouldn’t you but I figure no one is going to be here at work (ie the boss) so that day is pretty much going to be a free for all. I think I’m gonna just save taking off for my birthday. It falls on a Saturday this year, so I think a 3 day-er will be just what the doctor ordered. Oh but wait, Labor is that Monday, so a 3 day weekend is guaranteed. I could take the Friday off and have a four banger! I’m down! Lol I’ve been searching for events going on that weekend but have found nothing other than Chaka Khan in Memphis so far. I love Chaka but don’t know if that’s the kind of concert I want to see though. I’m gonna have to keep looking.

Did anyone watch the BET awards? I’m not a regular viewer of that network at all but I tuned in about midway. The entire show was a m.e.s.s supreme from Rick Ross with his repurposed santa suit and man boobs to Lil Wayne taking off his shirt at the end *vomits profusely* I dare someone to try and prove to me that he is sexy……I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU and will call you a lie! Lol Did anyone hear those kids from Baldwin Hills reading the teleprompter? You couldn’t understand ish they said but someone please tell me why one of the girls read the ellipses. Ya know……………. She actually said “dot dot dot”. I almost fell off my bed ‘cause I was laughing so hard. Folks, BET is detrimental to your children’s well being…..block it from them! lol

I tell you I’m getting feeble in my old age. I’ve got one foot over 31’s threshold and I’m losing my mind already! Lol I called to schedule a hair appointment last week. I thought I had scheduled it for 7/1 so it would be right before the holiday and was extremely surprised when the reminder went off on my phone tell me it was for this PAST Tuesday. *sigh* What is I’m gone do??!! I need some help. Someone told me to try Ginkgo Biloba (sp?). I’m going to have to do something because my brain is slowly starting to disintegrate. Lol On a brighter note, my stylist told me I looked like I was losing weight. Hey, I’ll tip to that! Lol I’m just glad this work I’m putting in is paying off. Don’t ask me how much I’ve lost because I have NO idea. I don’t do scales. Just call me Queen Latifah…I’m a size trying to get healthy. Lol

I ate McD’s for lunch yesterday and my tummy started feeling weird about an hour after that. It felt like heartburn in my tummy, that’s the only way I can explain it. It was just weird. So once I got home, I worked out but my stomach still had that same strange feeling. Dummy me decided to take the dogs walking but I only made it around the block before I gave up (and that was a struggle in itself). Z told me before I left I wasn’t going to be gone long because I didn’t look right. Lol I got back to the house and just laid on the floor in the den for about 30 minutes and then got up a took a shower. I ended up sitting in the tub while the water ran (retarded I know) because I couldn’t take it. Then it dawned on me that this is the same way I felt when I ate that pizza a few months back so I did the same thing I did then. I checked to see if I had another toothbrush and proceeded to the back bathroom to make whatever this was get out of my body. Just like the time before, I instantly felt better, thank goodness! Z made me some chicken noodle soup that hit the spot and I went to lay down for the rest of the night. I guess it’s a sign that I need to leave fast food alone. I doubt if that will ever happen because I know me BUT if it’s any consolation I don’t eat as much of it as I used to. :-)

Fragment Sentences.......

I've been up since the crack of dawn....literally

Z went into work this morning @ 6 and I was wide awake

I went to sleep pretty much after I walked in the door yesterday

I slept 12 hours almost straight through with the exception of waking up twice to pee

Decided to go walk the dogs since it was nice and cool this morning.

We walked about 3 miles

Got back to the house and decided to clean up

Did that for an hour

Realized that my fav repeat on All Star Workouts (FitTV) was coming on

It was with some chick named LaDonna doing an Afro-Latina workout or something like that

I did that for the next hour while continuing to clean during commercial breaks

**Random Thought** Why do they tell you to keep working out during the commercial when all they know you are gonna do is sit down or do something else until the break is over?

Finished working out

Decided I hadn't done enough so I switched onto On Demand to do some crunches with Gilad

Dude has been around for a long time

I hope what I did made up for me skipping working out Thursday and Friday

Finished cleaning up

Washed the dogs

Ate lunch

Showered/washed hair

**Yes I ate before I got clean....I was HONGRAY!!! LOL

Starting washing clothes

Last load is drying now

I'm still not sleepy

Might try and take a nap anyway

Just my luck, I will sleep through the night again. lol

I hope not

I feel like I am missing stuff

No plans for tonight

Bowling was mentioned

Not sure how I feel about going

I have to be in a certain mood to do things and I don't think my mood says bowling

My mood is not really saying anything but to just be

Hmmmmmmm, we'll see........

Afternoon at the movies: "The Incredible Hulk"

Afternoon at the Movies: “The Incredible Hulk”

Z and I decided to double up on our movie going experience this weekend and go check out the Hulk film Sunday afternoon. I figured anything had to be better than “The Happening” and I was right. I was pleasantly surprised. It had enough action and suspense to keep my attention so that was a plus. I also discovered that the man that plays Bruce/Hulk in the movie, Edward Norton, is pretty fly for a white guy. As of June 15, 2008, he is my new white man crush. It was Kevin Spacey for the longest after seeing him doing bench presses in the garage with his shirt off in “American Beauty” but Kevin has gotten old and it’s time for his replacement so Edward is it. I know it may seem like I have weird taste but these guys make me swoon. You’ll just have to see what I mean, ‘cause dude looks sessy with his shirt off. What can I say? I’m weak for the flesh!! Lol

I won’t spoil it for those that have not seen it but the movie is basically about the military trying to track Bruce Banner down. He’s been in hiding five years and is finally discovered after he cuts himself and some of his blood gets into a soda at the plant he is working at. The person drinking the soda with his blood dies or something and so Bruce Banner is discovered. Really random I know but hey, it’s the movies. From there on out, there’s just a lot of running, shooting, and him going back and forth from Bruce to the Hulk. Speaking of Bruce, the original man that played him on the show makes a cameo (and he’s still just as beefy lookin as he was back in the day), as does Sam Lee (the guy that originated Marvel Comics). Also making a brief appearance is Michael Williams, aka Omar Little from “The Wire”. Okay, so it was more like an extra’s part as you just see him on the side walk during one of the fight scenes but hey I’ll take it. I miss seeing him on the small screen.

All in all, it’s a pretty good movie. AR Gal rates this one: I’m glad I got off my couch.

Night at the Movies: The Happening

I had mixed feelings about whether or not I wanted to see this flick but alas there was nothing on tv last night to keep my attention so off Z and I went.

The movie was scheduled to begin at 10:10 but of course that includes previews so I'm thinking after about 5 minutes we would be good to go. HA! The audience had to sit through 20 daggone minutes of previews and I will go on record as saying that it was annoying as fuck! As with any preview, most movies are either (1) already out or (2) have been playing on tv as well so as much as you don't want to see them, you just endure and hope that the last one that plays is the very last one before the movie starts. This was just like a bad dream played out in life. I damn near grabbed my purse and went out into the lobby to wait them out. lol I do believe I was in a cranky mood anyway so this didn't help. After the torture, the movie starts. Just to give a background of what the film is about. An airborn gas is suspected to be floating in the air in the NE part of the country causing people to kill themselves so everyone is trying to outrun it or take shelter and hide from it. Cool enough plot. I figure it could happen in real life (nothing surprises me these days).

I was pleased with the fact that they didn't make you wait for the "meat" of the story to be played out. The good stuff started happening pretty much in the first couple minutes. What I wasn't pleased with is that they touted this film as M.Night Shalamar's (that's what I call him) first "R" rated film. For what might I ask? A thin line of blood going down someone's head from a self inflicted bullet womb and watching what was supposed to be a horrific scene (it was anything but....trust me) of someone's arms being bitten off by lions at the zoo just didn't cut it for me....I'm sorry.

Even though the film was not intentionally meant to be funny, I found myself laughing throughout most of it. Case in point, there is one scene where the main characters are looking down on a group of people running into the home they just left. Well, they weren't running quite fast enough and the "the happening" catches up to them. One of the men in the group decides to off himself by turning on a lawn mower and falling down in front of it for it to run over him. Yeah, I know that's not funny but the way he fell down on the ground had me hollerin in the theater. It was kinda like how you would imagine Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather from "Men on Film" on In Living Color passing out....I swear! lol lol lol I also was gifted a lot of giggles from Mark Walberg in his delivery of certain lines.

I suppose you will just have to watch it to see what I'm talking about but I definitely wouldn't pay top dollar at the theater to see it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been calling up my local Homeboy Network to boost a bootleg copy....either that or wait for it to come on cable. I should have known better than to agree to see this after one of my friends told me about the fuckery that is "The Strangers". Two...two....two duds in one! (shout out to "A Different World"). We almost went to see that ish last week too! lol

So anyway, you've been forewarned. Waste your hard-earned dollars at your own risk.

AR Gal rates this movie: I should have stayed my black ass at home.

My black @ss just about fell out my seat watching this. Dude flipped the script and went from his professional Mr. Tibbs voice to Debo in about 5 seconds.

FYI...if you are at work you may wanna turn the speakers down or slap a pair of headphones on.

Back Home!

After two delayed flights, I finally made it home Friday evening around 7:30-ish. I'm sure there is a method behind the madness of airlines and flight scheduling but for the life of me, I will never understand why I had to fly alllllllllllllllll the way down to Atlanta just to fly allllllllllllllll the way back up to Kentucky. D.e.l.t.a airlines is notorius for doing this. I cannot recall a time, even when I was younger, that we did not have to fly into the hub in the Atl, to make our connection to another fly to arrive at our destination. If I took the time to sit and thing about it, I'm sure I could come up with a logical explanation but at the end of the day is still rather retarded IMO.

*sigh*

I didn't so diddly squat Friday evening and barely left the house once yesterday. I was in bed until around 1 p.m., (1) because I was tired and (2) because my contact scratched my left eyeball (I have gas perm's, ie I'm blind as hell!) so anything that was light and bright affected that eye. It's hard to open and even if you are standing close to a ray of light, this shot of pain runs from the scratched part of your eye up through your head. It's kinda of like when you get your eyes dialated but you can see. This has happened a few times before so I did what I always do, squeezed eye wash directly in my eye (I did this a few more times through the day), patched it up, tied a bandana around my head to black everything out and caught some zzzzzz's. lol I'm happy to report that this morning, all is well. Z and I were considering going to the movies to see "The Strangers" last night but I wasn't feeling 100% and didn't think I would be able to enjoy the movie with my eye the way it was so we postponed going to see it until today......maybe. :-)

The carpet needs to be cleaned so we (ie he) will be working on that later this evening. I will do my part in doing some run throughs with the vacuum. I still need to unpack my suitcase but that usually never gets done until the following week. Maybe I will be inspired to do it earlier this time around. lol

Anyway, I'm audi 5000 for now. Hope your weekends are going well.

Checking in........

So far Louisville has been as nice as expected. I haven't really had a chance to do much outside of the workshop since we are at the facility all day with the exception of lunch. By the time we finish up @ around 4:30-5'ish, most of the touristy stuff is closed.....even the zoo! Sheesh. I've still got one day to make it Six Flags though. lol

The workshop is going as well as expected. It's a workshop, it can be interesting yet boring as hell at the same time. lol I'm still overwhelmed and really have no phluckin idea what I'm doing BUT I am doing what I came to do which is to (1) get an understanding of the grant writing process (which I have done) and (2) write a proposal. My boss told me that she wasn't really expecting anything on the level of a seasoned grant writer, she just wanted to see how I write so she could better assess my skill level. That took some of the anxiety I had away before leaving but I'm still pushing myself to put my best foot foward. Please believe that I know these folks ain't spent all this $$$ for me to come up to KY to take this ish lightly. :-) So now we are past the lecturing/exercise point and we are writing our proposals. I intially started out by myself, then the facilitator paired me up with some other chick. I knew that wasn't going to work because our areas of non-profit were different but whatever I just rolled with it. When it came down to get to the bulk of it, we both decided that it would be best if we wrote our own individual prop's instead of doing a collaborative one. We still use each other as support here and there but overall I'm happier with the current arrangement. :-)

During my down time afterwards, I've been trying to fit time in to utilize the gym next door, do a little site seeing, eat, sh*t, shave, shower, and do some research/work on the proposal. I'm not this busy when I'm at home. lol

I mapquested Churchill Downs yesterday and took a drive to go check it out. I have oodles of pic's but of course dummy me left my cable cord at the house. I found a pic online that looks really close to one that I took yesterday. I tried to see if there was a way that I could sneak in to get better pics of the track but no dice. It's just as well though, with my luck they probably would have arrested my tail for trepassing or something. lol

Today I ventured downtown to find the Louisville Slugger museum. When I googled it to find the address to map, I was instantly fascinated because the home page shows a pic of the museum with a gigantic LS leaning against the building.

**Sidenote....ma.p.q.ue.st sucks major tittayballs! They give pretty decent directions until the end when you are close to your destination then they drop the ball so you're forced to find the crap yourself. Good thing I'm pretty good directionally (is that a word? Who cares).
Anyway, after taking a wrong exit, I still ended up downtown so I just drove around until I found Main street and continued to drive until a saw that big bat. lol After taking pic's across the street to get the full bat on camera, I crossed over to see the thing up close. I was on the phone with my sister and told her that I wanted to see if it was made of real wood or not. lol Much to my dismay, it is just tons of metal. If I thought I had enough time, I would try to run down there before my plane leaves to get Z one. I'm hoping that we will not be in the workshop until one o'clock like she says because my plane leaves a couple of hours after that. Even if she's not, I'm still leaving. I'm red.ta.go.home. I miss my man and my dogs and I am not about to miss my plane foolin around with this stuff. lol
Someone had mentioned that there was a Muhammed Ali museum/center/something like that. I didn't map it and didn't really feel like looking for it. Instead I parked the car to walk to the Ohio river to get some pic's of it. Maybe, I'll ride back down tomorrow to try and find the Ali place. I don't know why though 'cause it's gonna be closed....*sigh*
I'm hungry, even though I ate earlier. I had leftovers from The Cheesecake Factory last night. I wish I had something sweet to eat on. I've got a granola bar in my purse but you know as well as I do that's not the kind of sweet I'm talkin about. As much as I've been going on about wanting chocolate cake, I didn't even get any last night. I took one look at my plate of food and knew that wasn't gonna happen. I ate about half of my food and was stuffed!! Maybe I'll go get some tomorrow. Scratch that...I WILL go and get a slice tomorrow. lol
So anyway, that's what's up. Everything and nothing. I'm rambling at this point.
**Note to self: this is what happens when your sugar is low....must eat chocolate cake.
Hopefully the next time I post, I will be at home. I hope they don't put me on one of those raggedy @ss planes again that I was on the first leg of the trip. I can't stand riding in those things.....they make me nervous.

I'm in Louisville......

.....Kentucky that is. Home of the Louisville slugger (or so I've been told, lol). I'm here for work to take a grant writing workshop. Since that is part of my new gig, they felt it would be best if I get a better understanding of what the process involves. The workshop I will be attending is the best from what I've been told by co-workers so I'm hoping to learn a lot. Now that doesn't go without saying I'm not a bit nervous, okay maybe a lot because I don't know diddly squat about writing grants. I know what grants are and I know how to write in English so I'm hoping that gives me a bit of a headstart. lol

After a bit of a delay at the airport in Little Rock, I arrived safe and sound (as did my luggage thank goodness!)

Sidebar: I've had luggage that I've checked go lost before and on a direct flight no less. I'm here to tell you that shit ain't NO fun...AT ALL! After I went postal on the baggage claim folks and left the airport (still without my suitcase), I hit up the mall and Wally World to buy a few items to hold me over until I returned home. My luggage was returned the day after I made it back home. I suppose it was just good that my stuff got returned but it still sucked major tittayballs!

Anyway......since I will be here until Friday my suitcase was full of stuff that I just couldn't live without so of course it had to go under the plane. After seeing my bag and thanking the heavens that it got here with me, I went to the rental car place. The chick at the counter was trying to get me to do upgrades, gps units and all that jazz. Ummmm, no sweetie not unless it's free. I mapquested all my routes prior to my departure and I can learn a city pretty fast so yeah....thanks but no thanks. I told them just to point me in the direction of the main interstate and I was good to go. I was at my hotel about 15 minutes later. It would have been 10 if the durn sign to the hotel was facing in more than one direction. I actually passed the place because of that. Anyway, I check in and bolted off to find the center where the workshop would be and to grab me something to eat. The center actually took longer to find than the hotel because it is not directly on the street that it says it's on but off the street. I mean like waaaaaaaaay back off the street. I would explain further but I'm tired so you will just have to take it how I'm dishing it out right now. :-)

So here I am now....nervous, tired, and hon-ga-ray might I add. I ate at like 5 and it's durn near eleven pm here (I'm on EST) and I've got the munchies. If I were at home, I would drink some milk with Nestle hot chocolate mix to make chocolate milk. FYI......that is like the best little nightcap in the world! I know another thing I would be doing if I were at home right now....sleep. So that's what I'm going to do.

Giving you what I got....musically
