It's official.......

......my favorite new show is "United States of Tara" on Showtime. I can't go into detail about the show because I am typing this from my cell so just google it. :-) I've always enjoyed watching Toni Collette act but let me tell you ole girl acts her ass off on this show. I highly recommend that you check it out if you have time.....and "The L Word" (which was fabulous tonight by the way.

Now it's time to watch "Big Love". Sunday night tv is great....at least when these shows are on.

Woman, thou art mad

For those of you not in the know, you can watch movies online for free. Not just any old movie, even though those are available as well, but new releases. Surf the channel (STC) has been locked in my favorites since a friend hipped me to it about a year or so ago. After growing tired of channel surfing and having nothing else to do this morning, I decided to boot up the laptop and see what new releases I could find online. Most times it's pretty much hit or miss if you will be able to view the movie. Sometimes you have to download stuff to watch and I'm not down with that so I just wait it out until a better online version comes along (ie when I remember to go back or wait until it comes out on cable if it is something I've deemed unworthy to view @ the theater.
Anyway, so I'm surfing through the list of films and see "Bride Wars" which is something I want to see but on my unworthy to view @ the theater list. I click the link and lo and behold, the movie starts playing. SCORE!!

The quality is sucky but it was clear enough for me to watch and not complain about so I stuck with it. So I'm watching and clipping coupons to go grocery shopping later today...WHAT? I know how to seize a multi-task opportunity! Like I said, I'm watching and laughing here and there when the movie just stops. I touch the mouse pad thinking too much time had passed and the laptop has gone to sleep. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....no. The message on the screen informs me of the following:

You have watched 72 minutes of video today. Please wait 54 minutes or click here to enjoy unlimited use of Megavideo

My face has the most screwy look on it but all I can do is crack up laughing like a mad woman. It was kinda scary...like for real. LMAO!!! This has never happened to me before so I'm kinda like in shock. You wanna know the killer though? When I last looked at the time left in the movie it was at 1:11 out of 1:23. Yes you read that right, there was only 12 minutes left in the damn movie and most of that was probably credits!! Bwahahahahahahahahaha

*sigh* I guess I'll finish clipping my coupons, making my list, and going to the grocery store. That will take up 54 plus minutes so I can finish watching the movie. Hey what can I say? I like to finish what I start.....most of the time. lol

UPDATED: I don't want to confuse anyone with what STC actually does. It pretty much is a vessel that shows all the movies that are available online to see. Once you click the movie name it takes you to a different page which gives you a choice of different links which lead to different websites. One of those sites is Megavideo which, as you know by now, has a time limit (72 minutes at a time, lol). I would suggest trying other links to view movies with so you won't be rudely interrupted during your movie watching experience like I was.

LOST AND FOUND

I don’t know about you but I hate it when I lose things….especially things I like a lot. Needless to say I was TOTALLY bummed out when I lost one of my sterling silver hoop earrings at Wally World Saturday.

Quick story: I had been searching high and low for THE perfect pair of SS earrings but never found the right ones because they were either too small, too big, too much money, etc. I even went on my fav website to buy SS jewelry (http://www.inspiredsilver.com/) and found a cute pair but changed my mind because I was unsure if they would be too small or too big. *sigh* It was close to the time I was going to Nashville and I remembered that they always have street vendors there selling all kinds of stuff including SS jewelry (at reasonable prices) so I chilled out and waited. Well, I sure am glad I did because as soon as I saw them I knew they were destined for my earlobes! I snatched them up (along with some shea butter, black soap and a few other knick knacks) and that was that.

I felt them in my ears as I walked around the store but as I made it to the cashier to check out, I swear I felt the left one fall. I stopped what I was doing and immediately reached up to my ear to make sure I wasn’t imaging things and sure enough it was gone. I checked my neck, my back….let me stop because this is starting to sound like a Khia song. Let’s just say I checked high and low and still found nothing. By this time someone walked up behind me in line so I completed my transaction, scanned the floor one more time and went to stand to the side. The cashier dude asked me if I lost something and I told him yes my earring. I told him to be on the lookout for it because I was going to go walk around the store just in case. I can’t say it was a complete and total waste of time because that extra walk did help me get closer to my 5000 steps that day. Lol

Admitting defeat, I trekked to my car with one earring in my ear which I snatched out as soon as I realized I only had one earring on. WHAT?! This ain’t the 80’s. That look is SO out of style (even though I’m sure it will be back in the next few years). I get home, tell Z, he mumbles something that sounded like sorry to hear that (*RME*), I pout for a little while, and then I forget about it. That is until yesterday.

I was searching around in my purse for my pack of gum when I came across the lone earring I snatched out of my ear. Then I saw something else shining in the light from the ceiling. I pushed the other junk in my purse out of the way and low and behold there it was……my other earring. I was so happy I could have done the Stanky Leg!! I was at work though and didn’t want the people to know how much of a fool I really am so I just smiled really hard and place them both back in my purse. I did make a mental note to do it (the stanky leg) when I got home but I didn’t because I forgot. It’s the story of my life.

Since I didn’t do the stanky leg and am back at the plantation, the least I could do is post some youtube foolishness of someone else doing it.

Dumb Questions

Z and I are sitting here watching the Giants-v-Eagles game. This was totally not my intent as I'm not a sports fan but I was online and didn't feel like taking the laptop to the bedroom so here I sit( for the record I am only half watching). Anyway, some player had just made a goofy play and the convo begins there.

Z:Did you see that?

Me: See what?

Z: What the dude on the field did with the football?

Me: Nope

Z: It looked just like something I saw on tv once. What's the name of that show Bill Cosby had?

Me: *Lookin at him crazy as hell* The Cosby Show?

Z: Uhhh, yeah. *laughs*

Me: You're dumb Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

He was trying to explain an episode on The Cosby Show when Heathcliff played football or something and the play on the field he saw reminded him of that scene. I can't even remember whatever episode he was talkin about because I am still over here laughing at his crazy behind. lol

My apologies to all Giants fans and congrats to Eagles fans.

Some things I've noticed........

...............while being at home today and last week.

  • I really like watching tv court shows. The People's Court, Judge Hatchett, Judge Karen, Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, Divorce Court, etc, etc, etc. It is quite entertaining.
  • My dogs get on my nerves wanting to constantly go outside but never want to stay outdoors long.
  • Movies on cable suck during this time of day.
  • Fit TV is the bomb.
  • Gillad on Bodies in Motion has still got it and can take my breath away. Have you ever tried his workout routines?
  • I hate this commercial. Why was the courtroom scene shot inside a church?

I'm so blue........

....what is I'm gone do???!!!!

Z and I have been off from work since 12/23 and have been THOROUGHLY enjoying our time in vacation bliss. Now that time is drawing to a close as we have to report back on 1/5. *sigh* I knew the time would fly by though...it always does when you're having fun. The killer is, we haven't really done much of anything out of the ordinary. We have just been lounging around enjoying each others company. I know, it sounds boring but I promise you it has been anything but.

Next week is gonna suck getting back into the swing of things, big time, but I shall push on because I must. Plus I need the paycheck so ummmm yeah. I suppose the best thing to do is just make the most of the time remaining because like it or not, Monday is coming. *bigger sigh*

Do you guys get like this after you've been off from work on vacation? I know I can't be the only one.

When is the next holiday because I'm already ready for another break! lol

Here comes '09

The first 9 years of the new millennium have passed by so quickly. It seems like just yesterday we were all waiting with baited breath to see if the world would go berserk and self destruct with the Y2K fiasco. Now it's anything but as all things electronic (particularly the internet) have become THE main form of communication. The world wide web truly has come a long way. Now folks cannot only check email but the latest news, gossip, youtube foolishness (oh how I love it so), and my personal favorite BLOGS!! While I don't know any of you personally...well wait, there is one I can add to the list *waves @ SouthernGal*, I do appreciate you guys letting me (and the rest of the world) have a peek into your lives. You all help me think and laugh at the same time. That's a great combination IMHO. :)

With that being said because I'm not one of the mushy persuasion, be safe wherever and however you choose to celebrate tonight. Z and I will be curled up on the couch watching movies and poppin champagne! Okay well maybe not champagne because I've never really been a fan but something other than hot cocoa that makes me feel all warm and tingly on the inside part.
I'm blabbering so folks from me and mine, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Here's a little youtube foolishness to ring the new year in with

You Decide.....

...funny or just mean?

My friends will tell you that AR Gal has quite a twisted sense of humor and finds this quite entertaining. WHAT?! I never said I was nice. I am convinced that this will be a story this kid will share (and laugh about) later in life for years to come. Especially after I read this clip description:

My mom decides to buy my brother an Xbox 360 for christmas. We leave that night and return the next morning to find he has sneaked a look....just as my mom thought he would, this is the result...and yes he did get the game i will try to post the second video

Back to life.....

....back to reality.

Christmas has passed as quickly as it came which seems to be the norm in my adult life. Overall this years holiday season for me has truly been boring. I never quite got into the mood even after going to look at Christmas lights, drinking Nestle's hot chocolate or watching "A Christmas Story" thrice (I did laugh my butt off watching the movie though). There's always next year I suppose.

I did have some fun times watching my niece and nephew open their gifts and talk about their day so all Christmas hope was not lost for me. :-) We ventured over to my aunts house that afternoon to visit with the extremely extended family. There I got to visit with all my older and younger cousins, one of which I didn't know existed until I walked through the door. My mom swears she told me that one of the my younger kin had a baby. She probably did. I'm known to tune out of conversations after about 5 minutes so ummmmmmmmmm yeah......

Anyway, we stayed for a few hours which allowed me to get my yearly update. Yes you read that right yearly...I don't fool with those folks that often. Everyone is still doing about the same but I was privy to a few tidbits of information. One of my other younger cousins (he's my fav out of the bunch) who is gay informed me that he had been living with his boyfriend for about a year. So we sat and talked about relationships and he gave me the inside scoop on what was really going on with everyone. lol After visiting with him, I joined the "old folk" in the kitchen and came upon one of the dumbest and humorous conversations I had heard in a long time. One of my older cousins, who was doing most of the talking, was talking about computers, the internet, and the like. Her sister had just criticized her, i.e. called her out, telling her she wasn't as computer savvy as she thought she was.

Sister: You don't know how to do anything on the computer except for how to turn it on and play games.
Older cousin: (Really loud) Un uhhhh, un uhhhhhh, You know good and well I know how to check my emails. I may not be able to send them but I know how to read them
I proceeded to put my head down to stifle my giggling and conceal the tears that were beginning to fall from my eyes. Once they were done fussing about that, the older cousin then proceeds to tell everyone how men being gay began with incarcerated men in the 70's.

I excused myself from the table and went to join the menfolk in the other room to watch the NBA game after that. I could take no more. She is truly the dumbest 59 year old I know.....no seriously she is.

Anyway, we left a little while after that. My mom and I passed out once we got to the house and went shopping a little the next day. My sis took the kids to their dad's in AR and that's where they will be until it's time for them to go back to school. My other sister wasn't able to travel down due to the weather but she says she may come down next week with the my other two nephews. We'll see.

Ahhh well, that's about it for me. I'm back at home...thank goodness! I hope your Christmas was more exciting and way more spirited than ours. Z just popped in the Dark Knight movie that we are soooooooo late on watching and I just realized that I want a BBQ sandwich. UGH!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Well this is gonna do it for me for me until at least Christmas so I wanted to wish everyone Season's Greetings! Be safe, have fun, and enjoy yourself. I hope you are with someone you love.....even if you're not in the holiday spirit. And if you're not, I've got just the thing for you....ENJOY!!!

Work Attire.......

Earlier this week, a question was posed in blogdome regarding appropriate work attire. I had no intention of hashing this topic until I saw, what I consider, some inappropriate work threads today.

This new chick moved into the cubicle across from me last week. She used to work at the plantation a few years ago and and just came back. She's a bit older, which is not outside the norm especially working at the non-profit I'm at, and nice enough I suppose. I've always admired nice frocks and such and have noticed that her wardrobe was pretty on point......until today. I didn't notice anything at first because I was busy working and just popped my head up to greet her as she settled in at her desk. A few hours pass and I get up to walk around to stretch my legs. I glance over and notice she has on a sweater jacket and with a top underneath. I return to my desk and then turn around a few moments later to get back up as I remember I need to go visit with a co-worker when I see it....a halter top. Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuuuun *gasp* She had taken off the jacket to reveal her shirt in all its glory.

My first thought........Ummmm, is this old ass lady for real? I mean for real for real??!! Her back was out, her almost non-existent boobs where somewhere in the mix annnnnnnnnnd I'm still not convinced she had on anybodies bra. Just because the girls are lacking in volume doesn't mean they still don't need some support. Just ewwwww. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for taking advantage of the super casual dress environment we have. We can wear just about anything we like at work, jeans everyday, shorts in the summer, flip flops (our CEO will sometimes have them on), birkentstocks (there is one lady that wears those everyday during the summer), hats, whatever. I guess I should add halter tops to the list.

I dunno, maybe I'm a prude....then again, no I'm not. You don't wear that type of shit to anyone's place of business regardless of the dress code unless you work for yourself, especially if it's damn near winter. We had a spike in temps around this area and it made it to close to 70 degrees. That is no excuse IMO. There was ice and snow on the ground not two days before. People kill me with that shit by the way....not dressing for the season. That's how you end up sick. Anyway, I showed a lot of self restraint because I promise there were times I just wanted to turn around and ask her what the fuck she was thinking but I didn't and just kept those thoughts to myself. lol I'm not sure if anything was said to her (my guess is probably not). By the time I returned to my desk she had put the sweater jacket back on but it came off again no less than 5 more times while at work.

To each his/her own I suppose but I just view stuff a bit differently. I just hope I never have to see that top again.

Shouldn't this child be watching Dora....

.......instead of videos?

Ok, so the kid is cute but her actions are not. I was highly disturbed by her trying to gyrate like Bianca Lucretia Knowles. People...do better.

Free snow days are the greatest!!!

This is Pinnacle Mountain.....

view from the very top!

and this is me (and Emma) at the very top!!

WHAT?! You didn't actually think I'd show my face! lol This was actually the best pic of me. Z is not the greatest photographer and kept snapping my pic when I was taking pics or when I had crazy facial expressions. I have advised him not to quit his day job! lol

I did actually go all the way this time and it wasn't that far from where I stopped the last time we climbed. I will have to keep that in mind when and if I feel like throwing in the towel next go round. It was very windy as you can see by my hair whipping around but the cooler weather seemed to be to my benefit. I'm SO not a tropical person and prefer cold temps -vs- walking around sweating in the heat all day. Anyway, we stayed up there for about 10 or 15 minutes and headed back down, came home, and crashed hard.

All and all, it was a good way to spend part of the day. I can honestly say, I look forward to doing it again.......while it's cold. lol

One monkey don't stop no show....

.....but they sure do move mighty quick. Z called me into the den to see the video clip of a journalist chunkin a shoe at ya'lls soon to be former (THANK GOODNESS!!) President Bush's head.

Him: Come look at this dude!
Me: What dude?
Him: Bush
Me: Ehhhh, I'll pass
Him: No this guy just threw his shoes at him. Hurry about they are about to replay it.
Me: *running into the den*
Him: (while laughing) Boy those chimpanzee's (referring to Bush) sure do know how to move fast
Me: Bwahahahahahahahahaha

I only wish one of those shoes had molly whopped him upside the head. That would have truly made my day.

Week in Review

This has been a rather sucky week for AR Gal. I'll do an overview of this weeks events.

Bruised Bone in foot

Wednesday evening-the wee hours of Thursday morning
Foot returns to normal but receive perm burn from hell that kept me up practically all night.

Later on Thursday morning
Accidentally backed into someones car door at work *sigh* Both cars were just slightly scratched and the scratches coul have been buffed out. Offered to pay to avoid insurance claim. Other driver declined. Oh well...it was their choice. I accept responsiblity.

Friday
Rather uneventful....thank gawd!! Went to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still". AR Gal rates the movie a firm "I Could Have waited to See that on Cable".

Saturday morning
Going to climb the mountain for sure today. Wish me luck!

Ironically my previous post is about not complaining about simple shit and most of this stuff is so I won't BUT this has definitely NOT been my Best Week Ever. lol

AR Gal PSA.......

..............please stop complaining about simple shit. Life could be much worse.

That is all.

Christmas Meme

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
I've been nicety!

What do you want most for Christmas?
Ummmm, world peace. My boots are on the way so I'm good otherwise but world peace would be nice. If only in a perfect world.

Do you believe in Father Christmas?
I don't think I've ever actually heard this term used before? Is this proper talk for Santa Claus? If so, nope I haven't believed in that since I was like 7 or 8.

What is your favorite food at Christmas?
I love love love those Hickory Farms meat things and cheese balls. Yummy!!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?
Yes, I bought my niece a watch on Black Friday. Hey it's a start!

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?
Nerp, not even close. See answer above for details

What is your favorite Christmas song?
"Let It Snow" by Boyz II Men. I know so cliche' but I like it a lot.

What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Hands down... A Christmas Story. What's not to love?!

What is your best memory of Christmas?

I was going to say something else but I copied and pasted this from Freaky's blog with his answers and he mentioned the Winter Wonderland exhibit that he visited growing up. They had one in Memphis @ Goldsmiths downtown that I went to every year with my Mama and Granny. The first time I remember going was when I was about 4 or 5. It was the neatest thing ever!!!! And yes Freaky you're right, it really was beautiful. We took my niece and nephew to it about 5 years ago. The location has sinced changed and while the exhibit was not as vast as it was when I was younger, I swear the same sense of excitement and euphoria set in. I think I got a little teary eyed because of the memories it brought back to me. WHAT?! Yes I can be a lush!! SHUT IT!

What do you look forward to most at Christmas?

During this time in my life. Honestly, it's the time off from work. Sad I know but it's the truth. lol

What are you doing for Christmas this year?

I'll be between home and Memphis.

What kind of Christmas tree do you have?

It's a regular old 6 1/2 inch green artificial tree.

Do you take part in a secret Santa?

I have in the past

Do you go to any Christmas parties? It depends on whose hosting it.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

When I was younger yes but not so much during adulthood. I do remember a nice ice storm back in '04 though. lol

How early do you wake up on Christmas morning?

I have no set time. I just get up whenever the spirit moves me.

Do you still get a stocking?

I purchased stockings last year on clearance after the holidays so this is the first time we have some to hang. There's nothing in them though. I'm putting lumps of doo doo balls in Emma's if she doesn't cease and desist with the poo poo platters. lol I asked Z what he was putting in mine and he said my present was already in there. I looked over to the mantle and told him it looked rather empty. He says its full of air...something we all need. I HATE HIM!! LMAO!

How many Christmas cards do you normally send out?

Zero. It's funny because I used to send them out all the time when I was in college but I just stopped. Oh well....

How much money do you spend on Christmas gifts for family members?

It varies.

What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?

It's a toss-up between my Easy Bake Oven and my first Cabbage Patch Doll.

Prefer to open gifts on Christmas Eve or Day? It honestly makes me no difference. I always know what I'm getting anyway. lol

Does December 25 feel too short or too long usually? I wouldn't say too long but it does seem to last forever.

How many gifts do you think you will get this year?

Just a few. Times ain't what they used to be when I was a little girl. It's a good thing I don't mind.

Are artificial trees or real trees better?

I can't say, I've only dealt with fake trees.

Decorate the Christmas tree with popcorn strings?

We did that a couple of years when I was little. I poked my finger a lot trying to thread the popcorn.

Put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving?

I normally try to get it up the day or weekend following Thanksgiving.

Should a Christmas tree be shorter or taller than 5 feet?

I like bigger trees so yes I say taller than 5 feet.

What color of lights look best on trees?

White lights IMO.

What does your stocking look like?

Gold with beading

Should stockings be hung on the fireplace mantle?Where else would you hang them? If you have a mantle then yeah I hang them there. Otherwise, I guess you could tack them on the wall.

Does your dog have its own stocking?

Yes, my furbabies have stockings.

Have you ever used a real sock for a stocking?

Nerp. Wouldn't it make sense to not have one if a regular sock was your only option?

Prefer fruit or nuts in your stocking?

I think I'd rather have air in it. LMAO!!

Do you buy stuff to put in your family’s stockings?

This is the first year for it so we shall see.

What’s the weirdest thing you ever got in a stocking?

Air. Lemme quit. LMAO! These stocking questions are killin me softly....for real.

How many parties do you usually go to during the holidays?

Very few.

Have you ever spiked the eggnog at a party?

I hate eggnog. There is no good way to drink it, I don't care what anyone else says. That stuff is gross!

Better to play holiday music or pop music at a holiday party?

I think a good mix of both is okay

Rather go to an office holiday party or the dentist?

To the dentist.

Ever gone to a party dressed up as Santa Claus?

Hell no! I'm a lady!

Put lights up on the house or not?

Z does.

Prefer icicle lights or traditional lights?C’mon!

Traditional lights with the big bulbs. Those icicle lights have always looked funny to me.

Outline the roof with lights or cover the bushes with lights? Both

Prefer decorating with all white lights or colored lights? White

Ever plugged more than 3 strings of lights in one socket?

This is a really dumb question

Rather spend the holidays with family or friends?

Both if possible because my friends are like my family

Are there certain family members you only ever see during the holidays?

My aunt and cousins that live around the corner from my Grandmama's house. I don't fool with them folks that much. lol

Are there any family members that you miss during the holidays?

My grandmama Virgie *pours out a lil liquor*

Do you have any holiday traditions?

Driving around looking at Christmas lights. It's a must for me.

Already??!!

It seriously just dawned on me that it's December, 7 whole days into the month. It's official, I'm slowly but surely losing my marbles.

This weekend has been rather uneventful. Z and I had plans of going to climb Pinnacle Mountain again Saturday but that fell through. I remember him telling me he had a dentist appt. Friday afternoon but what he neglected to tell me (or what I may have tuned out) is that he was having his wisdom teeth pulled. I knew as soon as I got home from work that climbing the mountain was out of the question. I'm still surprised he drove himself home. I remember being extremely sleepy after having mine removed. I would probably still be @ the doctor's office had he not been there to drive me. lol Oh well, there's always this weekend. Hopefully the weather will hold up.

The baddest bitch aka Emma has been giving us fits this past week. She's reverted back to her puppy ways and days by pooping in the house. Can you say NASTY??!! Most times have been on a towel we leave on the floor by the door to the backyard, but she also hit up the Christmas tree skirt one day (RME) and an area right by the bedroom door Saturday morning. I'm still hot about the tree skirt and Z is just pissed in general but oh well, this is what we signed up for. Anyway, we've gone back to basic training with her this weekend. Out every two hours on a leash (because she sometimes likes to just play instead of handling her business outside when we know she has to go), repeating the poop/potty keywords outside, and kenneling her up at night until she gets on the good foot. Hopefully her temporary bout of amnesia will go away soon so that we can be free of in home doo doo balls. BLECH!

I have phlucked up yet another body part. I took the dogs walking early Saturday morning since we weren't going to the mountain. The walk was great but when we returned home, I noticed the side of my right foot was hurting something awful. After sitting down to rest, it dawned on me what was wrong. A bruised bone. I've had one before in my big toe and the pain is quite similar. There's nothing honestly that can be done about it except to rest, apply ice, and wear flat shoes for awhile. Booooo!! That sucks because ya'll know how I love me some heels! Thankfully I still have some of my pain meds leftover from my prescription for my muscle spasm thing I had in my back which I'm sure will reappear just as soon as the bruising in my foot goes away. Trust me...my luck is just like that. I need to get on the good foot myself and explore different ways and techniques to strengthen my body so that I'm not as susceptible to injury. At the rate I'm going I will be the old lady hollering "I've fallen and I can't get up". lol

That's pretty much the weekend in a nutshell. Hope yours was better! :-)

All the single ladies…….

…..all the married ladies, all the divorced ladies, hell all the ladies. If you are on the lookout for a VERY cute and more importantly REASONABLE pair of boots look no further than this sweet pair right here.

http://www.naturalizer.com/shop_online/item_detl.asp?CID=boots&PID=hottie&variant_id=22554250&Size=%25%25%25%2D%25

I remember seeing these on someone’s blog once before (sorry can’t remember who) and admiring them. Being the budget conscious (ie cheap) shopper that I am, I stopped (ie fought) my trigger finger from clicking the buy button at the time and chilled out. Good thing I did because these sap suckas are on sale for $100 less than the original price! SCORE!!! They have been bought and paid for thanks to my Big Poppa and there is no longer a tightrope between me and my boots. All is well in my world of shoedome.

Now I know some folks may turn their noses up to something from Naturalizer, I know I did for a long time. Anytime I saw or heard that name I automatically thought “old folks shoes” and it is anything but. Well, I take that back. They do have some selections that still scream granny but you can find some great and comfortable selections from this place and even catch a cute purse or two. My eyes just feasted on one before I started typing this post. Damn you innernets!!!! *shakes fists*

Just a few reasons.....

.....why I can't stand people sometimes.

I got this in an email from one of my e-buds.

A teacher friend sent this to me. This is a childs name!

'Le - a'

How would you pronounce this as a child's name???
Leah?? NO

Lee - A??
NOPE Lay - a??
NO Lei?? Guess Again.
Are you resorting to tongue clicks yet??
Scroll down

It's pronounced 'Ledasha' oh yes...you read it right.
This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, Louisiana.
Her mother is ir ate because everyone is getting her name wrong. (Duh?)
When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, 'The dash ain't silent.' There.

If that weren't enough, I click this link to a youtube video while blog hopping. The singing McD's nugget dude ain't got nothing on this!!

I hope ya'll had a good holiday weekend. lol

Ultimate Stress Reliever.....

I've discovered the best thing since sliced bread! Because they know I am a lover of all things canine, one of my e-buddies sent this to me yesterday. It's a puppy cam!!! They are the sweetest little things!! Be sure to watch out for the one with the purple collar. He/she rocks rough and stuff, now all they need is their afro puffs!! lol I'm going to leave it up today so that when my boss works my nerve , because she will, I can sneak a peak at their angelic little faces.

I need to get one of these for our crib to make sure Emma and Cochise are not tearin up the place! lol

ENJOY!!!

It’s So Cold in the B….(uilding)

It is currently 48 degrees outside. The thermostat by my desk says it’s 65 degrees in the building. I am sitting at my desk with a jacket, scarf, and gloves on. I have drunk 4 cups of hot cocoa so far today…..I think I will drink one more before I leave. We cannot have space heaters. The warmest place in the building is the restroom. I sometimes just go in there to stand against the far wall (which is made of glass blocks) to warm up.

Funny story: My co-worker sent me an email with a story about her friends 2nd grader. Her friends little boy took a pocket knife to school last week; when his teacher asked him why, he said it was so he could whittle some sticks for a bonfire to heat the classroom!!

That kids onto something. Maybe I should build a bonfire so folks can gather around my desk to keep warm.

We normally keep the heat at around 70 when we are not at home (for the dogs). Now that I think about it, that still may be a bit warm for them. When we are at home, it goes no lower than 72. I’m cold natured and cannot stand for my feet, hands, and/or nose to be cold at any time.

What’s your office/home environment like? What’s your thermostat limbo? How low can ya go without freezing to death?

Trouble Don't Last Always......

....or does it? That's what I told my friend after hearing her last drama filled story about her boyfriend. In my previous post (The Weekend Squared), I mentioned that my BFF's little sister was staying with her. The reason why....her man is in the slammer. After a near death experience, he decided to tempt fate, uh-gane (ie again).

I guess I should start from the beginning for this to make any sense. They met a couple of years ago while she was moving from her apartment into her new house. She and her roomate at the time needed some help with the couch. Low and behold her knight in rusty armor just happened to be outside and gave them a helping hand. The rest is history because all I know is that I got a call saying that he had moved in. Hey, no biggie to me! I shack up as well so whatever but I cannot lie and say that I didn't have any concern since she hadn't known him that long....like two or three months. She's a grown-up so I didn't chastize her especially since I ain't her mama.

I went to Nashville that fall (2006) for TSU's homecoming and got a chance to meet him. He was nice, respectful, and cool as a fan. All in all I say he was on his best behavior while the girls were in town. lol A few months later after my visit I get another call.....she's pregnant. Oh vey!! She says it wasn't intentional, it just happened. I CTFU! I'm sorry but I thought that excuse was reserved for teens only. lol After we laugh, I congratulate her. She tells me she's scared and considered terminating the pregnancy but made the choice to keep it. I support her decision, of course, but I stil can't believe it. She never knew but I was in shock or at least I didn't think she did. I tried to cover my surprise by just doing what I normally do when I don't know how to deal....crack jokes and try and make everyone laugh.

Spring foward to late winter/early spring 2007. Her bf has a wreck....a really bad one. Almost took his life. They had gotten into an argument and he left the house to cool off. I can totally relate because that's what I do when Z and I get into a heated argument (read screaming match). The only difference? He likes to sip on sizzurp while he drives. Yeah you read that right...the negro decided it would be a good idea to drink and drive. *sigh* He ends up totalling his car, had to walk around with one of those halo thingamajigs on, and was out of work for couple of months until he healed. I saw pics of the wreck when I went to visit her a few weeks back. All I can say is I hoped he thanked whatever God he worships because he really is lucky to still be alive.

Summer of '07 my BFF has their little boy. He's a cutie pie too! Everything seems to be going well with them. Her bf is made a full recovery and is back at work, the baby is doing well, as is she and then.....more trouble. She had been on my mind heavily for a few weeks prior so I decided to call. We cover the basics and the gossip, then I ask about her about the baby and her bf and she says giiiiiiiiiirrrrlll, he's in ....... I ask her to repeat herself because I didn't think I heard her correctly.

Me: He's in what?
BFF: Girl, he's in jail.
Me: WTF??? Stop lyin!
BFF: *chuckles* I wish I was.
Me: WHAT? WHEN? And more importantly whyyyyyyy?

She goes on to tell me that while she was out of town for the weekend, he took a joyride in her car with their baby, decided to grab some more of that sizzurp, have a few too many sips of the sizzupr and got pulled over by 5-0. Instead of him actually pulling over, he leads the po-po on a wild goose chase, wrecks her car , and starts running with the baby until they are able to stop him. Nope, your not reading a Lifetime Movie storyline folks, this is true life....... unscripted. Luckily she was coming back into town when she got the call from the officers so she could go get the baby (who was fine...thank goodness).

Fast forward to now. Her sister moved in with her, pretty much immediately after that happened, to help her out. During my visit, I talked with her sister about how my BFF was coping because she just didn't seem to be 100%. She said that overall she's okay but it's just been hard for both of them because she was so used to her bf doing everything....cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kid while she just went to work. So she's actually getting to see what it's like to take care of a household (she's not the cleanest person I know, lol) and raise a kid. Her little sister said it's hard for her because it seems as though my BFF wants her to fill the bf's shoes while he is gone. That, IMO, is not fair. It sucks for my friend because I know she had no expectations of having to be a single parent at anytime during her relationship with this guy. It sucks for her sister too because I know she wasn't expecting to be the baby daddy of the household.

The bf gets out at the beginning of next year. I asked my friend if she planned on letting him come back into the house once he's released. She says she doesn't know but I know her too well. Her mannerisms and tone of voice translated to yes. As far as what her sister will be doing after that...I have no idea. If I were her, I would be stackin my $$ as much as possible to move out and get a place of my own. I wish them all the best and hope that he can turn his life around and put that damn bottle down....at least while he is behind the wheel. All of that drama has made me so thankful my life is full of peace, serenity, and birth control pills. lol

Hope your having a great weekend!

The Weekend Squared

FYI....I think this may be the longest post I've ever had so read at your own risk. lol

I think I’m down from my natural high of Obama-Biden win last week so it’s probably safe to post. Lol I’ll do a recap of the past two weekends since I didn’t mention anything about my trip to Nashville (aka, Nashlanta, Nashvegas, Alantaville……*sigh*) These are just a FEW of the ways the locals describe that place. Lol More on my adventures there in a hot minute.

This past weekend was most uneventful BUT our house is mighty clean! I vacuumed, swept, mopped, scrubbed cabinets, dusted, cleaned ceiling fans, washed clothes, sheets, rugs, dogs, my hair. I think I may have even tried to wash Z’s hair! To say I got carried away is an understatement but I had to because while Z made a valiant effort at cleaning up while I was out of town the weekend prior…...his clean just ain’t my type of clean. He does just enough so it doesn’t look sloppy. Lol He recently bought a steam cleaner, ya know like the kind you can rent at the grocery store so he was ready to clean some carpet. He wants to do it once/month since we have two pets and all. I argued that was a bit extreme but hey I’m not the one doing the actual labor so whatever.

The weekend in Nashville was fun as always. I love seeing my BFF and her college buddies (who I now consider my friends as well). I left home at around 2:30 or 3 that morning so I could arrive early, not have to deal with a lot of traffic, and speed so it wouldn’t take as long. My only concern was having to deal with creatures of the Bambi variety. I would add the link from that post about my previous Disney adventure but I don’t remember when I did it so oh well. Feel free to browse the archives though. I saw a good handful of deer between Little Rock and Memphis. I just talked to them to make sure they stayed in their lane so I could stay in mine……at least until I passed them. Lol

Once I arrived we hung out for a bit and then took off to go to the pep rally. Nothing special about that but I did see some gay dudes JSetting (Jett Setting) and some trannies. I have video and pics but my cam is at home so I’ll upload later. To say it is entertaining is an understatement. We took the kids out trick or treating at the mall later that night since it was Halloween. My BFF has a 1 year old and her sister (who is now staying with her…more on that later in another post) has an 8 year old. It was boring as hell but the highlight was this lady dressed up as a Krispy Kreme employee. Her name….Kristy Crème. LMAO!! She was decked out with a KK hat, an apron, a too short dress, a white jacket to cover up the ass that showed because her dress was too short, white tights, and skripper shoes!. I tricked her into taking a pic with my friends nephew (the 8 year old) so that I could capture all her on film. I‘ll upload that too once I figure out how to block his face out.

Saturday included the parade, tailgating, and partying that night of course. Prior to us going out that evening my BFF and her sister got into it. This is nothing new to me. My BFF, her twin brother, and her sister always argue….ALWAYS! And it’s ALWAYS about the dumbest shit known to man. I’ve known them since I was 9 years old so I just shut up, listen, laugh, and wait it out. Well that evening, her sister was cooking something (I can’t remember what exactly) and my BFF made a comment about how she felt it should be done. Next thing I know her sister is going off, my friend is going off, and I head upstairs to curl my hair. Lol One of the college buddies eventually comes upstairs to where I was at and whispers, “Have they always been like this?”. I just nod my head and laugh. I told her best bet was to just stay out of the way because they would be done in about 20 minutes or so and sure enough I was right. Well it turns out little sister was REALLY po’d because she straight up left the house. LMAO! So I keep getting ready and the others do as well. About 30 minutes pass and I ask my BFF had she called her sister. She says yeah but she’s not answering the phone. Then she starts going off on a tangent about how she knew she would try and ruin this weekend for her blah blah blah. I just looked, shook my head, laughed, and told her both of them were acting like kids. Well lil sis eventually comes back and as soon as she walks through the door my BFF is all over her like white on rice. “Where did you go? ….Why didn’t you answer your phone?.....blah blah blah” I kindly (not really) told her just to shut up and let her cool off because the last thing you need right now is for your babysitter to remain po’d and leave again because we (pointing to the others) don’t need a babysitter and are going out with or without you. LMAO!

We finally get ready, give each other the girlfriend “you look good!” stamp of approval and are ready to leave out the door. My BFF takes the baby, let me remind you that he is ONE, over to her nephew (who is EIGHT) and sits the baby on his lap and says perky as hell, “I’m ready!”. *blink blink blink*

Me: Are you going to go upstairs and tell your sister we are leaving so she knows the kids are down here by themselves?
BFF: She’s not even talking to me, what am I supposed to say?
Me: Are you for real?
BFF: silence
Me:*pushing her in the bedroom so the kids don’t hear me cuss her out* Seriously, both of ya’ll are way too old for this shit. She’s not talking to you? What are you supposed to say? That boy is eight years old…your baby is ONE use some common sense.Take your black ass upstairs and tell your sister, who is gracious enough to watch your child, that we are leaving.
BFF: But…..
Me: Put on your big girl panties and grow the fuck up….for real.

So she does and we leave. After we all got in her ass in the car, we did surprisingly have a very nice time that night and a remainder of the weekend. Sunday was a relax day and Monday I left. All in all a fun time was had even if I did almost have to choke a beesh.

Friends….gotta love ‘em.

YES WE DID!!!

I am so full of joy and pride right now…..truth be told I’m OVERJOYED!!! I sat on the phone with some of my friends watching the results come in and we discussed the what if’s (i.e. the ReThug’s steal it again) then……then……this happened.

(The crowd in Grant Park, at 10:00 when the election was called for Obama)

We all hollered, screamed, and cried. I don’t think I’ve said OMG so much in my life at one time. Z was SO excited and happy! We laughed (I cried so more) and hugged just enjoying the moment. I jumped off the phone with my friends and called my mom. Ya’ll….*smdh* she and her friend were WAY more crunk. Lol She was visiting her friend in my hometown and told me people were shooting their guns outside. All I heard, was “Yeah keep on shootin ‘em, aaaaaallll night!!!”. I was DONE. LMAO!!I called my sisters and of course their kids were excited. It means a lot to them too, but now they know that something that once was considered impossible to do is a possibility for them. For that alone, I am grateful.

With that being said…enough with all the mushy stuff.

LET’S CELEBRATE!!!!

Hoe Saddown!

The Hoe Saddown award of the day goes to these tragic imps.

imp
–noun
1. a little devil or demon; an evil spirit.

And is it just me or does it look like the lead "singers" teeth are double in number of what an actual human beings should be. Her mother must have procreated with JAWS or something.....I'm just sayin....

I'll just let Charles speak for me today....... Don't you just want to give him a big ole' hug?! *sigh*

I ain't no hollaback girl.........

.....so I'll just say I will see ya later. I'm off to see my BFF in Nashville.

And oh yeah, I got another Obama sign. It is now displayed in the window of our house. lol

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Awww Naw Hell Naw.....

....man they done up and done it!!!

Ya'll, I've been ROBBED!! One of those crazy loons that you see or hear about on the web stealing Obama yard signs got to our house this morning! It happened between the time of 10 a.m and 1:30 p.m today. How do I know you ask? Because it was still in my yard when I returned home from one of my doc. appointments and when I left to go to the other doc appointment it was gone. Maaaaaaaan, I'm PISSED! So pissed I decided to go file a police report. My anger still had not stifled while sitting blind as a bat in the eye doctor's office, so I made the executive decision (while trying to read the eye chart no less) to go see the po po's.

I sent a text to Z and he called me back laughing! Can you believe him?! I hate men sometimes.

Z: Are you really going to file a report for a $7 sign?
Me: It was $8 and yes the hell I am. You got a problem with it?
Z: Nope. You're gonna do what your gonna do anyway *chuckles*
Me: You know what? I can't talk to your black ass right now. We've been robbed and you are laughing at me.
Z: But Babe....it's just a sign.
Me: It's more than just a sign....it's the fuckin principal. I feel violated.
Z: Ok, baby don't get mad. Are you going to get another one?
Me: And you know this. I'll talk to you later.

And that's just what I'm gonna do tomorrow. I will be marching my black ass right up to the HQ in North Little Rock, AR to purchase another one. I don't care if the election is next week. In my humble opinion, that's all the more reason to have it.........I just hope they have some for me to buy. They had just gotten a shipment in when I got the 1st one. *sigh* Wish me luck!

Anyway, I did file the report. I just got back a little while ago. It was fairly quick and painless. I had to wait about 30 minutes because they were grilling some guy (I was sitting right by the interrogation room) they had pulled over about riding around with weed in his car. Once I heard them in there, it helped to pass the time as it was quite interesting. I didn't make out everything they were saying due to the background noise in the lobby but basically ole boy said it wasn't his. lol Is it ever? LMAO.

Enjoy the vid. It's Nappy Roots doing what else....AwNaw! lol

Gotta be there in the morning

It's the ass crack of dawn, 6:52 am, and I'm up. That's not really that strange since I wake up @ 5 (or somewhere close to it) during the week to get ready for work. I'm one of those folks that likes to go in early so I can get a headstart on my work (read so I can leave early). Anyway, what is strange is that I'm off today. Why are you up so early then you ask? Weeeeeeelll, I had to take my car up to the shop before Z went to work so I could have the other car to ride around in today for my doctors appointments. Now I am just waiting on them to open so I can drop my keys off. To help pass the time (and to help me stay awake), I'm online blog hoppin and found this youtube clip. At first I gasped, then before I knew I was laughing so hard. I'm talking about the kind of laugh that comes deep from within. Anyway, I know this vid looks a bit familar and it starts out that way but don't stop it too soon or you will miss out. This is funny (and short), so press play and enjoy!

Don’t Nobody Bring me NO BAD NEWS!

Well, no more anyway.

This has been a rough week for the state of AR. I’m sure most of you have heard reports of the anchorwoman, Anne Pressly who was attacked in her home last week and passed away this past Saturday. Her assailant has yet to be found.
http://www.katv.com/news/stories/1008/564436.html

There was also another death of a young lady by the name of Sonya Ratliff. She was brutally shot to death, in front of her children, by her piece of shit ex-boyfriend. Her assailant has yet to be found.
http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=74460&catid=2

And now if that wasn't enough, three students at my (and SouthernGal’s) alma mater UCA were shot last night. Two of those three are now dead. One assailant has been found, they are still on the lookout for the others involved.
http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=74572&catid=2

And to top it all off, Jennifer Hudson lost not only her mother but her brother as well this weekend. I know it’s now AR news but it’s still truly tragic. Her nephew is STILL missing. He’s only 7….just a baby. It hurts me when innocent children are abducted for no other reason than greed and selfishness. My only wish to help make this all better is that Julian King is returned home safe and sound.
It's time to draw out the big guns to lighten my mood. Yep, I need to hear something from The Wiz and I can't think of a better song than the title of the post.
Sorry it's not the actual clip from the movie, they have disabled embedding. If you want a looksie, just follow the blue link...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8i7dBj1Zjs

JOE THE FOOL.....

If there's one thing I can't stand it's folks that think they are special or believe that they hold a higher ranking in life just because of who they are (or who they think they are).

John McCain’s brother, JOE the fool, called 911 because of the DMV traffic.“He called the police emergency line because he was angry he was stuck in traffic. The 911 call came into the City of Alexandria on Oct. 21st That's creating some buzz because it appears to come from Joe McCain, John McCain's brother.

Operator: 911 state your emergency
Caller: It's not an emergency but do you know why on one side at the damn drawbridge of 95traffic is stopped for 15 minutes and yet traffic's coming the other way?
Operator: Sir, are you calling 911 to complain about traffic? (pause)
Caller: "(Expletive) you." (caller hangs up)

The complaint call about traffic on the Wilson Bridge, outrageous enough that the 911 operator called back. The voicemail on the other end, appears to belong to Joe McCain, brother of presidential candidate, John McCain."Hi this is Joe McCain I can't take this message now because I'm involved in a very (inaudible) important political project... I hope on Nov. 4th we have elected John."”

I thought the district was known for it's traffic. Hell, anywhere near or around 5 o'clock on any given workday, most major cities have it. Has he never heard of rush hour? I guess he's only watched the movie, then again I take that back. I swear some people can be so damn dumb.

It Was Only a Matter of Time........

I'll be damn if he didn't do a good job but I just have one querstion....Where's his wig??!!

I love the Geighs! lol

Muffin tops……*sigh*

You would think the fact that the pants these people are wearing being uncomfortable as hell would be enough…..you would think.

You would think the fact they are tight enough to take your blood pressure would be enough….you would think.

You would think the fact someone, at some point, is talking about you would be enough……you would think.

You would think the fact that your belly looks like an extra boob in them would be enough…..you would think.

You would think that you would get tired of the stinging red ring that appears around your waist (ladies you know what I mean! we’ve all had it at least once) when you take those suckas off…….you would think.

You would think that your daughter poking your tummy would be enough……you would think

Ladies, if you know someone like this, someone who prefers their muffins a little closer to the heart and not just out of the oven, I beg of you……BE A FRIEND!! Intervene and take them to the nearest shopping plaza and introduce them to the next size up. My vision ain’t been the same since I saw this lady at the store earlier. Her MT was a lot worse than the picture if you can believe it and yes her daughter was poking at her tummy tum tum. *shudders*

This message was brought to you by the letters “M” , “T”, and a visit to Wal-Mart.

Horoscopes

Virgo: No more trips down Memory Lane; you need to focus on the present. Sure, some of your yesterdays truly rocked, but so does today. The fun you have with Aries or Taurus is once in a lifetime.

I don't read my horoscope often and when I do it occassionally rings true to things that are going on in my life. The one you see above hit me like a ton of bricks when I read over it at 6 o'clock Sunday morning.

*Sidenote: I fell asleep (on the loveseat) watching some whack ass rental Z and I picked Saturday night and woke up at five Sunday morning in the same spot. lol

Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about the past for a few weeks...old experiences (good and bad), friends, boyfriends, things that could have happened, or maybe even stuff that should have happened that I didn't allow. Simply put, I've had a bad case of the "whatifItis" and it's done nothing other than to focus my thoughts on things that really aren't important anymore. Sure, it's always great to reminisce but now it's time for me to jump back on the saddle and focus on today and the wonderful life I do have.

Weekend Recap

This weekend turned out to be more eventful than I expected. I guess I should start with Friday. Z and I went to the fair, of course, and did our usual thing of walking around, stopping to eat a little here and there and people watching. Unfortunately for FreakyD, there were no half nekkid chicks available to photograph but there was an abundance of fashion fuckery provided by the teeny boppers. There was one set of girls that truly took the cake. They were all dressed alike in that they all had on the same type of clothes just in different loud colors. Their carefully thought out attire consisted of a too tight t-shirt, skin tight hot pants, and monochromatic plastic jewelry. I initially just shook my head until Z, who rarely calls folks out, made a comment about them being the FairDreamGirls then commenced to do a play on the Dreamgirls theme song from the movie and started singing “we’re you’re FairDreamgirls” . I was DUNZO!!! I tried to snap a pic but the camera on my phone reacts to slow so oh well. Sorry FD! Lol We also saw some tigers for an act they have. OMG, those of some of the most BEAUTIFUL creatures I have ever seen in my life. They were huge and intimidating (thank the lawd for being a big fence) but you couldn’t help but just to stare and admire them. I only wish we had gotten there soon enough to see the show. Oh well, that’s the story of my life….always a day late and a dollar short.

Saturday, I mainly lounged around the house during the day. I got the notion to get out of the house around 6 or so and called my friend to see if she was still doing the gathering @ her house. She said she was and also told me one of my running buddies from school was staying with her for the weekend. After a few stops around town, I stopped by her house and had a couple of drinks.

Sidenote: My friend had a Long Island Ice Tea w/rum made by Barcadi that was sooooo good! I have to try and remember to stop and get a bottle of it because if there’s one thing ARGal likes in her liquer is Rum…..YUM!!!

Anyway, after sitting around and catching up with everyone, I made an executive decision to go out to the alumni party. We made it there @ around eleven o’clock or so and the crowd was decent. I saw a few faces from my days there while walking around around (and getting another drink, lol).

Sidenote 2: I hate bar drinks. Why do they insist on putting bookoos of ice in your sh*t to water it down? For $7, half of my drink should not taste like H2O halfway through my drinking experience. *sigh*

I even saw AceBoonKoon there. Remember her? I’m too lazy to go back and find the post but needless to say that was a big surprise since (1) she didn’t attend the same college as me and (2) I haven’t spoken to or seen her in so long. I’ll have to post about that separately because to say that was interesting is an understatement. Lol I saw one of my homegirls and went to grab her to come over where I was sitting on my way back to the table I saw what I thought was a familiar face. I told her I’d BRB and went back to the bar and low and behold who did I see???? SOUTHERNGAL!!! I tapped her on her shoulder and she looked at me and smiled (she’s really friendly, I would have probably given me the side-eye. LMAO) I asked “Southerngal?” she smiled and gave me a big ole hug!

Sidenote3: Pictures don’t do her justice, she’s so pretty!!!

We didn’t talk for too long because I didn’t want to leave my friend waiting but once we saw each other face to face we realized we really didn’t know each other which is just so strange! Lol We talked a few minutes more and that was that. No pics or anything. WHAT?! Ya'll know I don't put my pics on the internets! LOL Southern, we should meet up for lunch or something one day, I neglected to mention that in my excitement. Hit me up via email.

Anyway, that was my weekend in a nutshell. More than what I planned but fun nonetheless.

What’s that?

There’s quite a bit going on this weekend in Central Arkansas. We have the start of the state fair today, the Susan G. Komen race for the cure tomorrow morning, and my college alma maters homecoming is tomorrow as well. Out of those 3 events, I will be doing 1 ½. What’s the half you say? I honestly had no plans of participating in any of the homecoming festivities. I remember SouthernGal asked me a few weeks back was I going to homecoming and my reply was “what’s that?”. Lol The entire time I attended there I went to maybe two football games and hell even that may be a stretch. I know for sure I went to at least one. My preference was to take a nap during the games so that I would be ready for the after parties. I told ya’ll I didn’t like sports. Lol FYI….Southern and I attended the same college and don’t know each other (although every time I see her face on her blog all I can think is that she looks REALLY familiar). We had the same major and everything so I am pretty willing to bet we took some classes together or at least passed each other in the halls of the BBA building quite often. :-)

Anyway…..my friends have been calling and asking me if I’m attending any of the functions. Of course, I’ve told them no but they are encouraging me to participate (after they had to remind me that homecoming was this weekend…I’m a mess). I told them if they can figure out a good reason to lure me out of the comforts of my home then I may reconsider. I was also invited to a house party Saturday night, so who knows. SouthernGal if I am persuaded enough, you may just see some strange chick with a short hair do come tap you on your shoulder hollerin out SOUTHERN!! Lol Just kidding, I’m not that crazy…well yeah I kinda am. Never mind.

Random thought: I cut my hair! I don’t think I mentioned it but I got it whacked off about 3 weeks ago. I got tired of the ponytail I was rocking everyday thanks to the summer heat. I initially wanted it cut like Tabitha on that Salon Makeover show on Bravo (LOVE that show by the way) but changed my mind and now it’s cut like V.Beckham’s hair. Not the cropped style she has now but the angled cut prior to that. Anyway, it’s cute on me and I love it. I think I shall keep it shorter for awhile because honestly these types of cuts have always flattered my face more.

Moving on, I won’t be doing the race for the cure. I haven’t even purchased a t-shirt yet! I’m so off track this year. I’m just not in the mood to walk through the streets of Downtown Little Rock/North Little Rock with 45,999 other women and children. I told my friend that if I go this year the best I could do was cheer from the sidelines and get all the free stuff they give out (because I usually miss out on most of it because I walk). She says she understands because she’s not going either. Lol Oh well, there’s always next year. I’ve participated for the past 7 years though so I guess me taking off one won’t hurt. I’m still going to run out today to the store they’ve set up (if time permits) to see if they have any shirts left. It’s the least I can do.

So that only leaves one thing for sure that I will be doing….THE FAIR. I know…I’m so country. Lol I’ve been feenin for a corn dog for awhile. I know some people will be like but they sell them at the grocery store. You know as well as I do that there is nothing like the taste of one @ the fair….nothing. I also want a turkey leg but not to eat by itself. I usually get a couple of them so I have one to make greens with now and one to make greens with later. I only cook them a couple times a year so it works out great. Speakin of I need to check with the local grocery store to see if they are doing that token thing again where you pay like fifty cents or a dollar to get in on the first day. If not, I may not be going to the fair either. Lol

Have a great weekend!

Brainwaves

Driving into to work this morning I heard THE most random thing on the radio. I was listening to a caller on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and she wanted Tom to speak to the listeners to encourage them on how important it was to vote because of an experience she had while at the beauty shop this weekend. This lady, who lives in Michigan, said she was speaking with a young girl about the elections. The girl proceeded to tell her that they don’t have to vote now because McCain dropped out of Michigan. (FreakyD, come get your cousin!!!)

I’ll wait while you pick your jaw up off of the floor.

Her mama must have spent a little too much time in front of the microwave while carrying her. Are the youngins nowadays really this lost and clueless?? Please tell me this was just a rare occurrence of stupidity and not the norm. I beg of you. My spirit is vexed.

All Show and NO SUBSTANCE

As usual with the tragedy that is Sarah Heath Palin, we got MORE OF THE SAME NOTHING! More having to repeatedly hear the words Maverick, Joe Six Pack (WTF is that about???), Governor, Mayor, and Alaska. More having to hear her never directly answer the question. More of her and that damn winking!! More of her hauling that damn baby around with her everywhere. I know I ain't the only person who thought that kid should have been at someone's house instead of up there. And why was she patting his back like that for? Wasn't he already sleep? I know that's beside the point but she just irritates me on so many levels.UGH!!

She played the media card and please believe me when I tell you they have not been NEARLY as hard on her as they should be. She needs to be called out her bullshit and held accountable for her actions. Her performance in this debate was nothing more than sentences that she had stated before and worked around to sound different. Yeah she may have picked up a couple of new catch phrases (Say it ain't so Joe) and may have given a shout out to the elementary school (WTF?) but it just didn't hit home. The only reason she (barely) made it through was because of that huge stack of note cards she had. If I didn't know any better I could have sworn she was on a cell over there texting somebody for help. lol

Biden on the other hand respected not only the American people but the moderator and answered the questions given. Answers that we want and need to hear. He did a good job of going after McCain and tying him to the Bush administration instead of trying to deliver lame ass one liners to dance around the topics. I think he is a great compliment to Barack and I absolutely cannot wait to see them elected into office!!!

Fasten your seatbelts!

Work is kickin my patootie today, on the day of the debates no less, but I had to make time to fit this post in. I had intentions to get mentally prepped to listen to Sarah and all the fuckery she is sure to deliver tonight but yet I must work. I guess I'll just stop by the liquor store on the way home instead and pick up a bottle of something. Ripple anyone?? lol I figure I'll have a better chance of deciphering just what the hell she is saying if I am slightly plastered

Anyway, I found this vid on airamerica.com and it's quite a hoot. I listen to the live stream @ work sometimes during the afternoons because let's face it, there's only so much of Wendy Williams and her donkey I mean Charlemagne I can take. lol Take a looksie and ENJOY! And enjoy the debates tonight.

I CAN'T BREAFE!!!

This vid is hilarious ya'll!!

AR Gal Letter

Dear white lady,

I saw you and your man walking down the street early this morning on my way into work. As I sat waiting at the stoplight, I watched you guys and my eyes dwindled down to your feet. I thought you had on flip flops since the bottom of your foot looked like a dark shadow but to my surprise, there was nothing there. Just your dirty feet looking like charcoal briquettes. I looked over to your man and saw he had on foot apparel. Neither of you looked down and out on your luck and looked like you could afford at least one pair of shoes. So strange! As both of you turned the corner, you seemed to stumble. Perhaps you were drunk, perhaps not. In any circumstance, seeing you this morning made me scratch my head and wonder why you would venture out like that in 55 degree weather. All I ask is to do better next time. Your feet (and mankind) will love you more for it.

Thanks in advance,
AR Gal

UGH!!
